Candidate Guide .The Actuarial Data Management team is looking for an experienced data and technology professional to help us deliver innovative data solutions. This role provides the opportunity to utilize your deep technical skills and business partnership skills on a daily basis. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our business partners to architect, design and deliver information utilizing standard tools and technologies including Google Cloud platform and Microsoft Power BI.The ideal candidate will be technically strong with SQL proficiency and demonstrated experience creating semantic data models, DAX formulas, and visuals in Power BI. This candidate will understand the process of creating and deploying new data pipelines, and will enhance our capabilities to deliver data and technology in support of our data goals.JOB DESCRIPTION:Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with leaders and business partners to understand analytical requirements, identify appropriate data sources, and deliver information that supports the expected outcomes.Design and implement standard, sustainable data processes, including the creation of common datasets with appropriate controls to ensure reliability and data integrity.Work with data management director to guide and upskill other associates in Power BI, DAX, M Query Language, semantic model best practices, and visual/model performance optimization.Evaluate existing Actuarial tools and processes and collaborate with our technology partners to define future state solutions that meet our requirements and eliminate support issues.Work closely with Information Technology and ADMO teams to align our Actuarial data and technology solutions to the broader enterprise architecture and data governance guidelines.Support the development of dashboards, visualizations, and standard exhibits to improve our ability to monitor and communicate results to our business partners.Provide architectural and production support for our growing cloud data environment build-out across Google BigQuery, Looker, and Power BI’s online service.Independently identify and investigate issues related to projects. Recommend alternatives which include system identification, remediation of issues, and documentation of analysis and resolution.Create and develop presentations, design documentation, diagrams, and training material as part of the deliverables.Reporting RelationshipDirector, Data Management or aboveSkills Knowledge and AbilitiesStrong data architecture, design and coding skills with hands-on experience designing and developing with SQL.Experience in R, Python, and/or related programming languages is a plus. Substantive experience in one or more common visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik required.Multiple years of experience leading medium-to-large projects in Power BI strongly preferred.Intermediate to advanced DAX-writing ability also preferred. Knowledge of cloud-based data applications (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure, etc.) preferred, but not required in lieu of strong on-premise data experience.Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact and build trusted relationships across different departments and all levels of management.Strong technical and problem solving skills with the ability to resolve complex situations and issues in an efficient and timely manner.Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, and the ability to independently manage or lead multiple projects.Understanding of the insurance industry, its products, practices and operations is preferred but not required.Knowledge of common actuarial data needs is a plus.Education and ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Technology, Finance, Statistics, or related field.Typically a minimum of five to seven years of related work experience.
