JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Penn State Law in University Park is seeking a part-time Assistant Director of Employer Engagement. The Assistant Director of Employer Engagement, in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Career Services, will develop and execute a strategy for outreach and engagement to develop new relationships, particularly in emerging legal markets (both Bar passage required and JD Advantage) that result in new career opportunities for students and alumni. This position will engage in activities to foster new relationships with public and private employers that result in recruitment initiatives by working extensively with employers, nation-wide, across a wide variety of legal industries. The successful candidate will communicate and educate employers on best practices for recruiting PSL students and alumni and develop programs/workshops that engage employers/alumni in employer roundtables, information sessions, panels, networking/career fairs, and etiquette events. This position will be a vital component of post-graduate job placement, assisting our students in securing gainful and fulfilling employment which the Law School sees as part of its ethical obligation to our students. This position will coordinate and facilitate employer engagement initiatives; develop and enhance in-person and virtual opportunities for employing organizations to connect with student and alumni talent at Penn State Law; and engage directly with new employers seeking to recruit Penn State Law students and alumni in establishing new job/internship/externship opportunities and relationships. Experience as an attorney or in legal recruitment preferred. A strong, established network with attorneys and firms is essential to the success of this position. Desirable characteristics for the successful candidate include being self-motivated, possessing a dynamic professional demeanor, independent, organized, flexible, and willing to take risks. Strong communication, relationship-building, problem-solving, organizational, and computer skills are a must along with strategic planning and decision-making ability. The Pennsylvania State University is committed to and accountable for advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability in all of its forms. We embrace individual uniqueness, foster a culture of inclusion that supports both broad and specific diversity initiatives, leverage the educational and institutional benefits of diversity in society and nature, and engage all individuals to help them thrive.
