DescriptionThe Department of Neurology in the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is undergoing a period of significant growth. We are seeking faculty candidates to join our outstanding group of dedicated academic neurologists in the Division of Epilepsy. Stony Brook is a 624-bed tertiary care facility with a catchment area of 1.5 M residents, Level IV Epilepsy Center, 20-bed Neurological Critical Care Unit (NCCU), and Level I Trauma Center in Suffolk County. Our faculty leads several nationally recognized, highly regarded subspecialty centers in Neuromuscular Medicine, Neuroimmunology, Epilepsy, and Movement Disorders in the outpatient setting. Ancillary services include MRI/PET, FMRI capabilities, EEG, EMG/ NCV, and infusion therapy.

Responsibilities include:

Coverage of the inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU).

Favorable weekend and overnight call responsibility shared amongst practice members.

Supervision of neurology residents, Advanced Practice Providers, and students.

Contributing to the growth of our existing outpatient epilepsy practice.

Candidates will also have the opportunity to develop innovative clinical, educational, or research programs to suit their unique academic interests.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

MD degree (or foreign equivalent). Eligibility for New York State licensure. Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neurology. Completion of an accredited Neurology Epilepsy fellowship or Neurophysiology fellowship.

Preferred Qualifications:

Background in Epilepsy surgery workup and monitoring.

Non-Tenure Track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. To qualify for a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine.
