The College of Pharmacy, with campuses in Chicago and Rockford, is the #1 college of pharmacy in the state of Illinois and the #15 college in the US ranked by US News & World Report.Description:Position SummaryThis position serves as the lead human resources officer for the college who assists in the identification, development and implementation of human resource strategic planning and annual goals, human capital management, and human resources policies and procedures.Duties & ResponsibilitiesDefine, develop, shape and implement college policy and procedures including but not limited to human resource operations, human capital management, tenure maintenance, mentoring and counseling, mediation and negotiation, health and wellness, labor and employee relations, organizational and employee development, and performance management.In consultation with the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, advise on human resource policy and procedures for the college and its units; provide oversight; monitor and guide the college units in maintaining compliance and HR responsibility; maintain compliance with university, state, federal and professional standards.Oversee/direct/train the college and department HR staff on the human resources principles, policies and strategies.Work closely with the Associate Dean for Diversity & Inclusion to address diversity issues for faculty and staff recruitment and retention.Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs in providing oversight and control of appropriate faculty and staff compensation.Establish metrics, analyze and leverage data and best practice insights in monitoring human resource across the College, respond to professional and accreditation human resource surveys, and prepare internal and external administrative reports.Work with the Executive Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Strategic Initiatives and provide administrative support for faculty affairs matters.Represent the college to University and System HR units and serve on key college and campus committees.Provide professional expertise and remain current with developments in federal, state, local and university laws, regulations and policies in the HR field affecting higher education employment issues.Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.Qualifications:Minimum QualificationsBachelor's DegreePreferred QualificationsMaster's degree preferred.A minimum of seven years high level administrative experience required, including experience as a human resource administrator preferably in higher education administration.Demonstrated leadership in the area of human capital management; compliance; analytical thinking; creativity and strong decision-making skills are also required.Demonstrable knowledge of human resource policies and procedures and systems required.Excellent oral and written communication skills are also required.Experience/training in mediation and negotiation, and project management required.Salary range ($125,000 - $140,000) is competitive and commensurate with experience.
