Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.Summary StatementThe Delaware Department of Justice is seeking a Deputy Attorney General (DAG) to join its Health Law Unit (HLU), Civil Division, to represent the Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS). This position will involve general counsel duties for the Division for the Visually Impaired, representation of the Division of Medicaid and Medical Assistance in matters of estate recovery and financial eligibility, handling Adult Abuse Registry Hearings for the Division of Health Care Quality, and the Delaware Drug Overdose Fatality Review Commission. In addition, the position also involves representing the State of Delaware in Civil Commitment Hearings, Weapons Relinquishment and Lethal Violence Protection hearings as well as performing other duties as assigned by the State Solicitor, Deputy State Solicitor, Unit Head, or Assistant Unit Head. The HLU takes a proactive approach to assisting its agency clients; therefore, a successful candidate should have the ability to work with State agencies to identify potential issues and assist State agencies to address such issues to minimize or avoid future legal action. This DAG should be able to work independently and meet deadlines, with demonstrated legal ability and thorough knowledge of relevant laws and court rules.
