Position Overview:This position directs the day-to-day and strategic activities of a highly complex, large plant to achieve financial and operating objectives as determined by ARP and the Business Unit. The Plant Director is a key leadership role which manages all plant operations with overall responsibilities for safety, production, maintenance, warehouse, quality, customer relations, human resources, and finance. This position serves as the senior ARP representative locally, and is responsible for compliance with the Amcor code of conduct and for ensuring plant compliance with all regulations (federal and local), as well as other Amcor and ARP policies and procedures.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan facility operations.Plans production to ensure customer deadlines are met.Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and delivery problems.Controls the financial spending of all departments.Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes managers to ensure compliance with standards.Responsible for overall talent management and performance management related activities.Conducts daily meetings with the managers to control the daily operations and review any customer issues.Reviews the safety performance and training programs for the facility.Responsible for the overall "engagement" and morale of the facility.Writes and provides to the Regional Operations Director a monthly activity report.Managerial ResponsibilitiesManage the departmental managers who in turn supervise department personnel of the facility. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the facility.Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities also include interviewing, addressing complaints, problem solving, and coordination of the financial and political responsibilities of the plant.Education, Skills, & ExperienceBachelor's degree or equivalent;Ten or more years related experience or the combined equivalent.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.Ability to write reports, and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond in group environments.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics inference, and fundamentals of geometry, trigonometry, and statistics.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field preferred; minimally, Business Administration or similarMaster's degree preferredMinimum of ten years plant supervisory experience required, including three years in operations managementProven track record of success in a large operation in the plastics packaging industryExperience overseeing functions such as accounting or finance, safety and human resources, and quality preferredKnowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resourcesOur ExpectationsWe expect our people to be guided by The Amcor Way and demonstrate our Values every day to enable the business to win.
