The individual will manage outside counsel involved in the representation of the company and review and approve pleadings, motions, and settlements. The person will work directly with senior management of the Company and cross-functional departments in providing legal support and training on various matters; and perform other legal tasks as assigned by the Legal Department leadership.Basic Qualifications:Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law schoolMinimum of 7 years of experience with reputable law firm and/or corporate legal department in litigationCurrent Wisconsin bar association membership and in good standingPreferred Qualifications:Previous consumer class action, large commercial and/or product liability litigation experiencePrevious experience in a global manufacturing environmentPrevious experience in a publicly traded companyKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Effective negotiation, presentation, communication, and drafting skills;Ability to independently work on highly complex legal matters;High work capacity and passion for the job, in addition to high ethical and moral standards.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Strategically manages the resolution of assigned litigation or threatened claims, including products liability, commercial disputes, and breach of warranty lawsuitsAddresses general liability matters for the company, which includes developing case strategy, managing outside counsel, issuing legal holds, developing budgets and forecasts, reviewing and approving pleadings, attending depositions and court hearings when appropriate, and coordinating discoveryLead and assist in out-of-court resolution of actions including settlement negotiations, mediation, and arbitrationDevelop and implement litigation strategies that align with the company's business objectives and risk management prioritiesProvides strategic input and guidance on new laws, regulations, and industry trends affecting the CompanyCounsels the Company regarding product-related questions, including manuals, warnings, and technical publicationsLeadership responsibilities for designing and directing the work of both legal and cross-functional teams. Helps select, coach, and develop staff, as applicable.Provide legal guidance in support of strategic corporate initiativesEffectively manages the services and support of external counsel, as neededAssess legal issues associated with proposed commercial transactions and strategies to mitigate business risksPrepare and provide training presentations to internal clients on relevant legal topics or corporate practicesProvide counseling on legal regulatory and compliance matters, as neededPhysical Demands:
