Promise Parent Academy Mentors (Non-teaching)

The Parent Mentor Academy (PMA) is an initiative of the Joseph C. Cornwall Center at Rutgers University-Newark. PMA is a two-generation program that aims to develop community residents as mentors to improve student educational outcomes and improve school-community relationships in Newark, NJ. The program trains and deploys mentors to provide academic support to primary-aged students. For the 2024-2025 academic year, mentors will read with children, practice academic activities, and provide instructional support.Parent Academy participants are professionals who will provide academic and attendance support to students at public schools in Newark.Position Status:

Part TimeQualificationsMinimum Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent, and/or up to 4 years of related experience depending on the duties to be performed. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the experience required.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must complete all training provided by the program.Must be able to communicate orally and in written form.Must have a passion for working with youth.Must exhibit professionalism.Must be able to keep detailed records.Must have basic computer skills.Must have access to a computer.Must be able to maintain confidentiality.All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment screenings.Immunization Requirements:
