Employment Counsel AttorneyProvide strategic support and legal counsel to Human Resources and cross-functional business leaders to manage employment law risks in a variety of employment matters, including recruiting, performance management, terminations, wage and hour, disability leaves and reasonable accommodations, EEO and FEHA matters. Partner with business leaders to provide support in employment-related transactional matters, including non-executive employment agreements and acquisition matters.Responsibilities

Serve as a subject matter expert in all areas of employment and labor law, and provide legal advice and guidance to Human Resources and other business partners regarding a wide range of employment law matters, including performance management, terminations, wage and hour, leaves and reasonable accommodations, EEO and FEHA matters, staff reductions.Conduct and oversee internal corporate investigations.Represent the Company in administrative actions, including EEOC, California Civil Rights Department, DLSE, OSHA, etc. Respond to government and third-party notices, subpoenas, and allegations of wrongdoing.Directly engage with regulators, including law enforcement agencies.Research employment law issues and provide legal opinions to respond to business needs and inquiries.Exercise careful judgment when preparing legal memoranda and other communications that are appropriately concise and understandable to the business units and the Legal Department.Respond to third-party communications, including demand letters and administrative investigative complaints.Stay abreast of developments in employment law at the federal, state, and local levels, particularly in California, and communicate effectively of the updates to internal stakeholders, including HR, management, and other departments, and develop and lead training programs for various internal groups.Advise management on the legal implications of current and proposed laws, actions, and policies.Review business forms, notices, and other legal documents for compliance with applicable legal requirements.Provide proactive risk avoidance counseling, including developing business-oriented and cost-efficient solutions, and implementing policies and procedures to avoid future litigation.Actively partner with and manage outside counsel on high-exposure initiatives, identify and recommend the retention of outside counsel when necessary, and actively control such costs.Enforce Club Billing Guidelines with outside counsel and carefully scrutinize and approve outside counsel bills.Qualifications

JD Required from an accredited law school.Minimum 5 years practicing labor and employment law with a national law firm or in a corporate legal department. Required.Member of the CA State Bar; must be in good standing.Proficiency with standard Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred.May require travel within the state and occasional travel to other states for meetings, conferences, and training.Highest level of ethics and integrity.Certified Legal Professional - National Association of Legal Assistants Required.Excellent oral and written communication skills, trial and arbitration skills, deposition and negotiation skills, excellent teamwork, initiative and client relationship skills, and a commitment to ethical conduct.Compensation:The starting pay range for this position is $152,800.00 - $203,700.00.
