Position SummaryUCLA’s School of Education & Information Studies (Ed&IS) takes pride in a tradition of challenging traditional thinking and is positioned at the forefront of discovery. As the Executive Director of Development for Ed&IS, you will bring your strong leadership skills, exceptional strategic thinking abilities, and passion for advancing the priorities of Ed&IS to make a significant impact in achieving our philanthropic goals and objectives. Your fundraising expertise will support the efforts of students that believe in imagination over convention and see education and information as extrapersonal pursuits. As our Executive Director, you will oversee activities for the school’s alumni relations efforts; lead the development and implementation of strategic events, programs, and initiatives designed to achieve the school’s goals; and represent the Dean, the school, and UCLA to donors, the UCLA community, and beyond.

Salary & Compensation*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Visit

QualificationsMinimum of seven years of experience and progressive responsibility as a professional development officer or similar professional experience in a nonprofit, membership/volunteer driven, or other related environment. (Required)Progressively responsible experience in the design, implementation, and management of complex development or comparable programs including the ability to envision and articulate future direction. (Required)Demonstrated experience in developing successful cultivation and solicitation strategies and soliciting high-level major gifts and/or prior experience with solicitations of a similar nature, level, and complexity. (Required)Excellent donor, alumni relations, or similar constituent-based relationship skills with expert knowledge of the principles and practices of major gift fundraising in a major research university or institution of equivalent complexity. (Required)Appropriate management and administrative skills needed to organize, direct, motivate, and evaluate other professionals and volunteers. Strong supervisory skills to oversee and evaluate the efforts of professional fundraisers. (Required)Excellent communication skills to express, both verbally and in writing, the mission of the University and the fundraising goals of the campus, especially as they relate to the School of Education & Information Studies. (Required)Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with the Dean, faculty, and administration; central development; major donor prospects; and volunteers. (Required)Effective verbal communication skills to make persuasive oral presentations to senior management and internal and external constituencies; conduct participatory meetings; gain acceptance of decisions; and advise and collaborate with others. (Required)Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact effectively with academic leaders, faculty, staff, donors, and volunteers. (Required)Strong strategic thinking skills aligned with the ability to implement and follow through. (Required)Steadfast commitment to work of impeccable integrity with strong analytical and organizational skills to develop creative, credible solutions, recommendations, and programs as well as to define and implement special fundraising and/or program-related projects.
