At New Balance, We Got Now.JOB MISSION:As a Sr. Innovation Engineer, you will be part of the Manufacturing Innovation team introducing new automation and robotics technologies to New Balance domestic manufacturing facilities with the goal of strengthening US manufacturing as a competitive advantage. You will be an integral part of New Balance's mission to use technology to solve problems, create new capabilities, improve processes, reduce cost, improve safety and enhance domestic manufacturing. In this role, you will research and implement new ideas to aid in building a vision of the future. You will design new advanced manufacturing techniques, automation, robotics, and assembly tools seeking opportunities to transfer technologies from R&D to the manufacturing facilities. You will work closely with the Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Development and Health & Safety departments to keep assigned projects on schedule. You will ensure that new ideas are transitioned from R&D to pilot programs and that issues are quickly identified and resolved.MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Design novel automation tools for use in the manufacturing of footwear and apparelDesign and build robotic work cells for an industrial manufacturing environmentEvaluate technologies from external partnersCreate test plans and fixtures to validate and compare custom designsTroubleshoot and work with technicians and engineers to problem solveClearly document work to ensure successful transitions of technology to other teamsREQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Robotics, or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent with 7+ years of relevant work experience, Masters preferredAbility to generate multiple solutions to a problem and rapidly prototype new conceptsA tinkerer that enjoys working in a hands-on, maker space environment with prototype and machine shop equipmentKnowledgeable about the entire product development lifecycle from prototype to launchExperience designing test rigs and integrating sensors for data collectionExperience serving as the technical lead on projects with multidisciplinary teams and multiple stakeholdersSkilled at Solidworks, including flow and structural simulation packages6-axis robotics experience with UR, Epson, ABB or KawasakiUnderstanding of software and electronics for design of electromechanical systems is a plusFamiliarity with vision systems is a plusRegular Associate BenefitsOur products are only as good as the people we hire, so we make sure to hire the best and treat them accordingly.
