CRA Lending and Development Officer

This role will be working on-site at our Walnut Creek office.The CRA Lending and Development Officer works to execute goals related to the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and the commitment to serving the Bank's communities, including lending, investments and services to low and moderate-income neighborhoods.What you will do:CRA Goal Attainment: Works with the Bank's CRA Officer to achieve the Bank's CRA lending, investment, and services goals and objectives.CRA and Community Development Lending: The CRA Lending and Development Officer will support the Small Business, HMDA, and Community Development lending groups through weekly tracking and progress reports related to target lending goals across the Bank's assessment area. The position requires a strong technical knowledge of CRA rules and a background in successfully translating highly technical requirements for lending audiences, as well as continuous assessment of the Bank's CRA program impact in regards to overall exam rating based on lending activity.CRA Program Governance: The CRA Lending and Development Officer will leverage internal regulatory reporting to maintain CRA Program governance standards and analyze CRA performance, including CRA Committee reports, performance in all areas as related to peers, tracking of Performance Context criteria, including obstacles to achieving stated goals, etc. CRA eligible Community Development lending activity will utilize peer and regional lending comparators. Additional tracking and reporting responsibilities also include assisting in tracking existing community support programs, with reports to the CRA Officer, along with strategies to expand utilization of existing programs.New Product Development: Assist in the development of new products to ensure the Bank's lending programs, deposit products and other financial services are designed to meet the needs of the communities in the Bank's CRA assessment area, including low and moderate income neighborhoods. Report to the CRA Officer recommended changes, or improvements related to special lending, and investment programs available to community development target markets. In addition, responsibilities will include the development of proposals for additional community support programs reflective of the Bank's asset size, assessment areas, and regulatory expectations.External Education: Participate in virtual or in-person small business and financial literacy training in support of the Bank's business communities and community partners.Who you are:Advanced knowledge of CRA regulations, including reporting requirements and examiner expectations at the Large Bank level.Ability to perceive gaps and inconsistencies in the data submitted.Ability to interpret loan-related information.Ability to work with CRA related analytical tools, with demonstrated CRA Wiz abilities preferred.Ability to implement initiatives through cross-divisional/department coordination or resources and managers.Previous experience representing a financial institution in the delivery of community development services.Ability to communicate with varying levels of stakeholders, including lines of business, senior management, Board committees, and regulatory agency examiners.Ability to write at a professional level and translate highly technical concepts for a wide variety of readers.BA/BS Degree (preferably with an emphasis on business, finance, economics or accounting).Minimum of five years of progressive CRA lending, reporting, and community support experience, or combination of equivalent education/experience.Excellent analytical, communications (written, verbal, presentation) skills; organization skills, business acumen and report writing.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); CRA Wiz (training may be provided if required).Salary Range: $110,000-170,000 annuallyFinal compensation package will be determined by the work experience, education, and/or skill level of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.Mechanics Bank is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, age, genetic information, veteran status, or on the basis of disability, gender identity, sexual orientation or other bases prohibited by applicable law.
