The Donald G. Costello College of Business at George Mason University is one of the largest business schools in Virginia, located near Washington, D.C., in Arlington and Fairfax, and at George Mason’s global campus in Incheon, South Korea. With 10 tenure-line faculty and 5 term faculty, the Management area has faculty with expertise in many different business topics, focusing on Organizational Behavior, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship. Faculty publish in top management journals including Administrative Science Quarterly and Strategic Management Journal.

About the Position:

The Assistant Professor, Strategy, teaches Management courses in undergraduate and graduate programs, conducts high-quality research, teaches effectively, and positively contributes to the academic environment. The Assistant Professor provides service to the Management Area, the Costello College of Business, the University, the profession, and interfaces with the business community.

Responsibilities:

Conduct high-quality research for publication in top-tier academic journals and teach Management courses in undergraduate and/or graduate programs;

The teaching load for this position is determined according to the College’s workload policy;

Additional responsibilities include service to the Management Area, the Costello College of Business, the University, and the profession, such as journal reviewing/editing, academic division board leadership, student mentoring, committee membership, and interfacing with the business community.

Required Qualifications:

Terminal degree in a related field;

PhD or equivalent in an appropriate discipline prior to the start date;

Experience teaching and willingness to teach at either the graduate or undergraduate level (including online);

Record of scholarly and professional accomplishments consistent with an appointment for the appropriate rank, including evidence of potential for publishing significant research in top-tier journals;

Evidence of potential to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels;

Evidence of significant published or “in press” research in top-tier journals.

Preferred Qualifications:

Expertise in conducting qualitative and/or mixed-methods research;

Experience teaching PhD courses;

Evidence of good citizenship and the ability to work well with colleagues.
