OverviewE2 is looking for a Distribution Design Engineer to join our team to support our main electric utility client in Hawaii. The successful candidate will incorporate the use of O-Calc software. Projects include Pole Replacements, Covered Conductor Replacements, True Up Modifications, equipment upgrades, and Overhead-to-Underground conversions. The position will work under the direction of the senior engineer and will report directly to the Distribution Supervising Engineer or Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed design and engineering calculations of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems to comply with the client's standards, specifications, preferences, and relevant industry standards (GO95, GO128, NESC, RUS etc.).

Perform field evaluation of proposed installation sites as required.

Verify Bill of Materials meet the requirements of the design and client needs.

Design distribution projects with neatness and a small margin for error utilizing PLS-CADD, O-Calc, SPIDA-Calc, or Pole Foreman software.

Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop/flicker and pulling tension calculations.

Conduct electrical design review meetings and provide minutes.

Interface with project management and designers during the design phase.

Communicate and coordinate project activities with the supervising engineer, client, and other stakeholders as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering.

0-6 years of experience working in distribution design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm.

Experience with reading pole loading sheets and inputting information to O-Calc software.

Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook).

Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with distribution design and construction standards for Hawaiian Electric.

3+ years of experience with O-Calc Software.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Wage Data Per State RequirementsSalary range for this position is $85,000 - $110,000. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
