Director - Division Engineering.Provide regional technical leadership and engineering services for consumable engineering, equipment, facilities, and utilities, automation equipment to support operations, R&D, new product launches, margin improvement, and ongoing manufacturing & product availability improvements in a compliant, cost-effective, and timely manner. This service is provided to all Core Diagnostics internal and third-party manufacturing sites, as well as to consumable incoming material vendors.Manage a group of multi-discipline engineers, contract engineers, and technicians, accountable for their performance. Recruit, train, and evaluate the performance of employees.Establish and drive regional strategies regarding innovation, standardization, and sustainability designed to increase manufacturing reliability and cost efficiency, while reducing complexity, environmental impact, and improving consistency across the manufacturing network.Establish project objectives and technical criteria for evaluating project results. Ensure that the project time activities are aligned with the project objectives. Assure that all key stakeholders are aligned upfront for project/program kickoff and are involved in major impact decisions.WHAT YOU’LL DO:Lead multi-disciplined engineering teams and projects in good collaboration with site or vendor functions in support of evolving business needs.Establish and maintain active communications with Core Diagnostics management in Manufacturing, R&D, EH&S, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Operational Excellence, Finance, Commercial, Marketing, and other Abbott business groups to ensure current understanding of their concerns and requirements. Establish goals and plan resources to meet the needs identified through this communication.Manage capital project budgets for the respective region and drive financial analysis on capital programs with a deep understanding of division and corporate finances. Understand the key business drivers for each capital project and be able to represent that information to senior-level business leaders.Clearly define issues and opportunities to develop cost-effective business and facility solutions for capacity needs, obsolescence/risk management, cost reduction, and continuous improvement.Accountable for the planning, execution, and closure of capital projects within regional scope. Deliver and manage all necessary engineering resources for assigned projects from design transfer, commissioning, and validation qualification.Provide leadership and develop talent through exposure to the global network. Coach & mentor individual engineers and staff to ensure accountability for the corporation's facilities and that the best business decisions are made for Core Diagnostics considering strategic direction, capacity planning, supply risk, and project execution.Utilize contract employees, consultants, and outside engineering firms to augment internal project resources. Participate in negotiations and disputes with outside vendors and third-party manufacturers.Formally investigate on-market product issues. Coordinate facility and manufacturing problems utility projects to ensure adherence to root cause, establish Abbott Standards, and implement corrective actions, preventative actions, and effectiveness checks to solve problems.Provide technical leadership in compliance-related areas such as qualification, validation, and preventive maintenance of equipment specifications.In conjunction with Abbott Divisional and site representatives, assist in the development and maintenance execution of applicable Corporate Engineering Standards maintained by Global Engineering Services.Review proposed capital plans and projects. Prepare project cost estimates and justifications. Develop resource plans for both capital planning approved projects and the preparation make recommendations regarding use of RCEs. Carefully manage commitments vs. authorized dollars per CFM Guidelines.Constantly monitor and communicate changing project priorities to ensure that the efforts of the external engineering staff are applied to the most important projects.The position requires a high degree of adaptability, creative decision-making, and technical problem-solving abilities to expeditiously resolve a wide variety of complex issues that occur during the execution of complex projects as well as to address unplanned, on-market manufacturing product availability and/or quality issues within the Core Diagnostics manufacturing network.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING:Experience:5 years of program/department managerial experience.Experience leading and managing complex projects within a diverse and complex environment.Knowledge of planning, forecasting, and executing a plan/budget.Capital Planning Experience.Demonstrated diplomatic professional skills necessary to effectively function in a multi-site, multi-business environment.Education:Required Qualification:

Associate degree with 7 years’ experience.Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related discipline with 10-15 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a regulated environment.Apply NowThe base pay for this position is $143,300.00 – $286,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
