GLAUKOS – SENIOR/PRINCIPAL PATENT AGENT (ALISO VIEJO, CA or BURLINGTON, MA)
How will you make an impact?
This role will serve as the lead Patent Agent for Glaukos, interacting primarily with the company’s lead global IP counsel, outside counsel, and the various R&D teams. This individual will proactively assess, and takes steps to procure and protect, Glaukos intellectual property.
What will you do?
Work with internal and external key partners to design and implement global patent strategy, which may include applied chemistry, medicinal chemistry, small molecules, biologics, mechanical engineering and/or optical engineering
Collaborate regularly with Legal and R&D to identify inventions and determine patent eligibility
Help maintain global patent and trademark dockets and generates regular reports.
Guide and advise global stakeholders across an array of scientific and non-scientific backgrounds focusing on fostering innovation and mitigating IP risk
Perform prior art searches, conduct patentability analyses, and analyze third-party patent portfolios
Prepare and prosecute patent applications globally relating to the company’s broad product pipeline pursuant to the Company’s business objectives
How will you get here?
M.S. in Chemistry or related field; Ph.D. preferred. M.S. or Ph.D. in Engineering will also be considered
Registered Patent Agent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
Expertise in applied chemistry, medicinal chemistry, small molecules, biologics, mechanical engineering and/or optical engineering
Strong understanding of patent laws, regulations, and procedures
Proven track record of managing a diverse portfolio of patent applications
Able to write, search, and prosecute patents independently
Able to search and draw compounds
Familiar with biologics
Able to communicate fluidly within cross-functional teams, working effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel
Proactive, self-motivated, organized relationship builder
Takes work and sees it through independently, seeking guidance and consultation along the way
Meets multiple deadlines, prioritizing across an array of projects
Exhibits accuracy, efficiency, and follow through using strong time, organizational, and project management skills

12+ years experience in global pharmaceutical patent prosecution

$94,800-123,300 + bonus + RSUs
