The Real Time Communication (RTC) Services team is made up of RTC specialists entrusted with the mission to create value added services that serve the needs across all our Audio, Video and Telephony Infrastructure.

Our core responsibilities include building a best in class Compliance Recording and Surveillance Service for RTC, enabling interoperability between internal and external RTC Systems, and processing media for Broadcast, Streaming, and AI workflows. Our team works closely with Product Stakeholders, RTC Infrastructure, RTC Applications, Multimedia, Network Engineering, Compliance, and many other Engineering teams across Bloomberg.

Few of the challenges that the team is currently addressing are:Building a common platform for Compliance Recording and Media Streaming / BroadcastingEnabling interoperability between Audio, Video, and Telephony solutions that the team currently providesEnabling interoperability with third party Audio, Video, and Telephony solutions

The Role:As a team leader, you will be responsible for creating the vision of how the team will build the next generation of Real Time Communication Services. We are looking for someone who is an excellent collaborator and has proven experience in hiring, building, and leading diverse teams.

As the team leader for this team we will trust you to:Hire, coach and build a diverse team of engineers in San FranciscoDevelop a deep understanding of the domain and client needsChampion and look for opportunitiesCollaborate with partners across the Product, Engineering and Developer community.Drive innovation and the technical direction of the teamBe a hands-on leader, whether pair programming or peer reviewing or partnering with the product team to build and enhance our offeringsChampion agile approaches where needed to drive efficiency and improvements in quality

You'll need to have:2+ years of engineering leadership experienceExperience in people leadership rolesExperience designing, building, and supporting production systems in C++/Java and PythonExperience building and designing back end infrastructure for Real Time CommunicationStrong fundamentals in distributed systems design and developmentExperience in building and operating extensible, scalable, and resilient systemsA self-starter with the ability to work effectively on a team with excellent spoken and written communicationA Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, similar field of study or equivalent work experience.

We'd love to see:Demonstrated success at hiring and growing teamsPrior experience launching or leading greenfield initiativesA track record of building applications and scaling complex distributed systemsKnowledge of WebRTC or similar video conferencing frameworksKnowledge of media formats (MP4, WebM), codecs (VP8, VP9, AV1, Opus) and video conferencing protocols/standardsKnowledge of Asterisk and SIP protocolExperience with open source contributions

Salary Range: 200,000 - 300,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus. The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
