The Senior Counsel will be responsible for providing commercial and contract advice to the various Business Segments. This position will report directly to thyssenkrupp North America's General Counsel, Kasia Dygas. This individual will provide general commercial and contracts support, working with a team of 6 attorneys (in addition to the General Counsel). This is an exempt, full time position. The position is Remote with the occasional need to travel to the various Business Segment sites and the Regional Platform office in Chicago, IL. Pay: $160,000 - $180,000 base salary with an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus.Experience in the Manufacturing industry highly desirable.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Establishes negotiation objectives and schedules to support and meet business requirementsPrepares first quality negotiation documents that reflect an advanced knowledge of contract terms and conditions, legal requirements for compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and company's financial policies and strategiesUnderstand business requirements and the company's risk toleranceActs as the lead negotiator for the company and directs the involvement and contributions of the businessUses highly qualified influencing skills to direct and control the negotiation schedule to meet established milestones for completionMaintains business focus that balances the needs of the business for profitability with ensuring the contractual terms and conditions protect the company and minimize riskDrives the negotiation to closure and reaches agreement with client on commercial, financial, and legal contractual issuesExecutes and finalizes all documentation required for contract closureDevelops proactive tactics and documents (internal negotiation notes, formal responses) to execute those strategies and goals in a way that will maximize profitabilityAssigns, coordinates, and follows-through on the involvement of all areas of the company in a timely manner to execute the plan, such as those required for a successful Deal Review callCreates, organizes, communicates, and executes a negotiation plan to support the business requirements as they are defined and refined in a dynamic environmentPrepares business cases and executive summaries detailing the contract negotiation schedule, issues, and risksMaintains open communication with contract management and business leadership to keep them advised of potential issues or risks throughout the contract development, negotiation, and conclusionProvides creative solutions and ideas for resolutionTracks accomplishments by using pertinent milestones and end goalsUnderstands the roles and accountabilities of all contract management employees to draw upon the abilities of others in executing a contract negotiationCollaborates with team members to share learning and experience obtained in contract and commercial negotiationsPrepares and delivers trainings and tool kits for the business and helps to develop contracting processesStrong computer skills and competencyAble to travel as needed

Your profileREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLSEducation:Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law schoolActive bar license in good standing with any US jurisdictionExperience:A minimum of 3+ years of contracts experience, experience with sale of goods contracts is requiredExperience in the Manufacturing industry highly desirableLarge Law Firm or In House experience, not required, but preferred.Personal Attributes and Traits:Self-motivated and ability to complete matters without extensive supervisionSound business judgment, with the ability to recognize the business consequences of legal adviceStrong cross-cultural sensitivity: can work with differences in style and cultures, and adjust work and communication style accordinglyExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenDetail oriented with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentHands-on, active, roll up your sleeves styleExceptional organizational skills, time management, and project management skills with the ability to prioritize, coordinate, and satisfy numerous competing demandsDemonstrated skills in client management and the ability to communicate effectively and develop strong working relationships with senior management and business colleaguesFlexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of legal mattersProfessional attitude and strong personal ethicsPhysical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting and working on a computerLanguages:Fluent EnglishProficiency in Spanish, preferred not requiredThe above is intended to describe the general content of and requirement for the performance of this job.
