To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.We are looking for a fluids design engineer crafting the fluid systems for Lunar spacecraft. Work will include the complete life cycle of the system from definition, interfaces, conceptual design, detailed design, component development, assembly, verification, and operation. This position goes from initial design to analyzing data from their landing on the moon!A successful candidate will understand and can contribute to flight piping and instrumentation diagrams and schematics. This position will be responsible for 1st order analyses to verify your designs and CAD design by modeling valves, propulsion elements, sensors, piping, and other equipment in the flight vehicle. Our team will size, select material, and analyze piping and supporting structure for structural integrity due to pressure, vibration, fracture, fatigue, etc. You will work with suppliers or Blue Origin groups to identify and procure components and support to procure, fabricate, and install flight hardware. You will also manage the project plans for various hardware including cost and schedule.Bring your technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.Responsibilities:Fluids systems design and development, including developing specifications and procurement of components, designing of parts and assemblies in CAD, performing trade studies, and analysis of test dataInterpreting and generating Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)Design and/or create specifications for fluid/gas components i.e., solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure vessels and instrumentationDevelop and maintain interface definitions between fluid systems and other vehicle subsystemsDesign and analyze custom components for fluid, thermal and structural applicationsPerform component verification of internally and externally sourced components to company standardsCoordinate with other subsystem teams to ensure operability and fitmentGood project management skills are necessary in this role to be successful including vendor management.Qualifications :B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field5+ years of experience in aerospace propulsion and fluid systemsExperience in 3D CAD programs, drawing creation, piping applications, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs (ANSYS Preferred).Experience performing flow and pressure calculations as well as structural and thermal analysis of fluid systemsExperience handling large assemblies in CADKnowledge of design for manufacturability for a variety of manufacturing methods (CNC machining, cold forming, welding, additive manufacturing)Knowledge of standard installation and fabrication methods of fluid systems (tube stock, fittings, connections, fasteners, welding, etc.)Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of team work and inclusionMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Desired:Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering fieldExperience with hydrogen and oxygen systemsExperience qualifying components and systems for air or space flightExperience with Creo, Creo Piping and WindchillKnowledge of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and toleranceCompensation Range for:CA applicants is $111,690.00-$156,366.00;CO applicants is $102,382.50-$143,335.50;WA applicants is $111,690.00-$156,366.00
