Click the apply-button to send your application.As our new Senior Process Safety Engineer, you will work alongside our Process Safety Engineering Manager to execute projects and grow our Process Safety Group. You will coordinate with our multi-discipline design/engineering staff to assure safe and quality designs for various manufacturing markets. Core competencies required to be successful are experience facilitating and scribing Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and Dust Hazard Analyses for our clients, and mentoring a small group of process safety experts. You will also work closely with our Process Safety & Risk Management Group auditing our clients PSM Programs to identify gaps and areas of improvement.Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:Facilitate and/or scribe PHAs for chemical manufacturing processes (HAZIDs, HAZOPs, FMEA, LOPAs)Facilitate and/or scribe Dust Hazard Analyses (DHAs) for industrial processesWork alongside our Process Safety Engineering Manager to grow into a leadership roleActively support the pursuit of new project work for the process safety group, including preparing proposals and scope of work write-ups as well as estimating engineering labor hours and feesMentor, coach and support development of process safety expertise in earlier-career engineering staffResponsible for managing budget and schedule performance on process safety tasks of projectsPerform PSM applicability studies and PSM auditsEffectively communicate/document with project team, including outside contacts, customers, and other engineering departmentsGuide the development of internal Process Safety policies and proceduresYour starting point for constant growthFor this role, we believe your starting point is:Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) and 10+ years of relevant experience in process safety engineeringExperience with facilitation and scribing of PHAsExperience with PHA Facilitation Software (PHAWorks, PHA-Pro or similar)Experience with Safety Integrity Level (SIL) calculationsExperience with the design and/or operation of PSM-covered processesExperience with auditing the requirements for PSM processes (e.g. operating procedures, mechanical integrity program, management of change)Experience with combustible dust standards and DHA facilitationProficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)Variable travel required - 20 to 30% depending on project demand (international travel may be required)Valid driver’s license requiredPersonal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include:Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skillsMotivated to support the enhancement of the safety culture of our design and engineering staffMotivated to mentor and support development of process safety expertise with earlier-career engineering staffAbility to work effectively in teams and independently, in an office environment, virtually, or at a project siteWillingness to challenge the normalization of devianceDesire to continue to learn, grow and advance careerA continuous improvement mind-set with regard to systems and business processesAn equal opportunity employerEquality, diversity, and inclusion is at the heart of what we do.
