This position is located in the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Veterans Employment Training Service (VETS).

Duties

The Director provides direct supervision to all Regional Administrations (RA's) with purview over the VETS Staff with the Office of Field Operations (OFO), located in the regional and field offices. The incumbent brings together the RA's and managers to facilitate the exchange of information across regional and field offices to establish management objectives and set goals, and to coordinate the resolution of issues, ensure consistency of operations across the regions and implementation of action plans as appropriate. The Director ensures that all Regional Office efforts are strategically aligned in furtherance of developing effective operating systems that promote the overall goals of assisting service members, veterans, and military spouses in gaining meaningful employment and protecting their employment rights.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess technical and management experience and have developed the knowledge and skills required for effective performance of the specific duties of the position. Candidates must have had experience at a major management level (normally equivalent to the GS-15 level in the federal service).All competitive candidates for SES positions with the Federal Government must demonstrate leadership experience indicative of senior executive-level management capability. To meet the minimum qualification requirements for this position, you must show in your resume that you possess the Fundamental Competencies, five Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs), and the Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQs), listed below.
