TYPICAL WORK SCHEDULE: School year Monday – Friday, Hours vary between 7am and 7pmSummer Monday – Friday, Hours vary between 7:30am and 5:30pmOccasional nights and weekends with proper noticePrimary PurposeUnder the supervision of the Club Unit Director, the Teen or Youth Program Director is responsible for the planning and implementation of high-level programs, services and activities that target BGCNN appropriately aged youth or teen membership participating at the Unit Club House consistent with the organization’s youth development mission and goals, and developing positive, productive relationships with members across all program locations within the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck Territory.Our Club Program team helps us to focus on our mission and positive youth development outcomes opening the door to new worlds and possibilities for kids and communities across the Northern Neck. And we love what we do!Responsibilities:Ensures Youth Development Professional “YDP” team members greet members upon arrival.Initiates, conducts, and evaluates programs and activities for youth ages 6-12 or teens age 13-18 to include full scale, age-appropriate programs across all of the organization’s units. Details on specific programs can be found in the Clubs Operations Manual and online with BGCA.net. Program Directors also make program recommendations based on member and facility needs.Ensure effective and timely communications regarding programming across the Club with youth and families working with the Unit Director to ensure that proper and timely communication is provided across the organization.Under the supervision of the Unit Director, assist in collaborating with other community organizations and volunteers to provide a variety of opportunities.Under guidance of the Unit Director, assist in ensuring that one main event is planned and conducted each semester promoting prevention mechanisms and increasing awareness in core areas.Assist the Unit Director in supervising, training, and evaluating YDPs that may be assigned to the program department under this position’s guidance.Assist in the training and supervision of volunteers.Works with the Unit Director to establish a positive, attractive, and safe club atmosphere.Assist the Unit Director with Membership recruitment efforts for the area over which this position oversees.Oversees the Unit's membership retention plan for the age group assigned under your guidance. Actively promote participation. Assists the Marketing team with developing a marketing plan to recruit and retain teens.Ensures that NYOI and other program surveys are being conducted for members and results are considered in planning and decision making.Develops the appropriate Leadership Club for the Members you serve. Torch Club for 9-13 and Keystone Clubs for 14-18 and work to ensure that they are provided to the highest levels of both regional and national participation.Provides leadership and encouragement to youth to develop

their self-esteem, academic and career goalsleadership skills, positive and constructive behaviors

Ensures assigned YDP develop positive, productive relationships with members and their parents.Ensures YDP and Members have a sense of caring for the facility and keep the program area neat, clean, and attractive for members.Helps with homework and tutoring through the use of the Power Hour Program.Safely secures, maintains, and utilizes program materials/equipment in program areas.Ensures a safe, healthy, and positive environment in the program area.Follows established policies and procedures of the club.Ensures equipment is in good condition. Notifies Unit Director when repairs are needed.Utilizes “active listening” skills in interacting with All Org team members and members.Behavior incidents and achievements are recorded and shared with the Unit Director.Conduct national program as directed by the Unit Director.Leads and assists where appropriate in scheduled staff/Team meetings and training.All other duties as assigned.Other Occasional Responsibilities:May occasionally oversee special programs and/or events, and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary.May be required to drive Club van/mini-bus periodically to transport members.Items specific to Teen Program Directors to assist with only:

Provides supportive services to employment program case managed youth and documents case managed youth activities.Identifies, recruits, and develops Youth of the Year candidates within each of the units.

CERTIFICATION/ASSOCIATION:Must be able to be registered by our organization with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (www.mybgca.net).Complete required assigned trainings.Will be required to gain First Aid and CPR Certifications.The ability to earn a valid CDL Driver’s License with Passenger & Air Brake Endorsement to assist in the transportation of members is strongly encouraged.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:An Associate’s degree and/or experience equivalent is preferred.Demonstrated programming development and project management skills to meet youth needs.Demonstrated ability to set and meet goals.Demonstrated ability to direct and supervise program staff.Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.Previous success in youth program development.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:Must be able to perform duties which require prolonged standing, walking, talking, hearing, standing, sitting, bending for long periods of time. May occasionally be required to kneel, run and/or climb.Must be able to use the telephone and other office equipment.Must be able to lift, move, manipulate and or hold objects up to 25 pounds. Objects that exceed the 25-pound weight limit require additional assistance when moving, lifting, or manipulating.Healthy Behavior Modeling
