MATH AND SCIENCE INSTRUCTIONAL COACHEnvision Education seeks a Math and Science Instructional Coach to lead students to academic success in a diverse, compassionate school community.

This position includes an additional $5,000 City Arts and Leadership Salary Supplement.THE POSITIONThe Instructional Coach will report directly to the assigned site Principal and will matrix to the Director of STEM. The Coach is a member of the School Site Instructional Team, and is charged with supporting teachers with delivering exemplary pedagogy to all students within their subject area of expertise. The Coach provides leadership and assistance in implementing the essential curriculum, analyzing formative assessment data, and conducting professional development for enhancing teaching strategies with the goal of ensuring that every teacher is delivering rigorous, grade level appropriate instruction. The Coach will also lead the development of aligned unit and lesson plans, support instructional inquiry cycles, design and deliver exemplary professional development, and model lessons and pedagogical strategies in classrooms as needed. You examine your own biases in your pursuit of equity for all.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESBe a Champion for excellence in Math and Science!Work with Principal to Identify and support coherent resources and guidance for curriculum, instruction and assessment.Facilitate professional learning communities and instructional rounds, analyze data and articulate progress across the content area, reflect on teacher practice and analyze student work (e.g., classroom video, lesson plans, student work, audio recordings, observations, teacher narratives), to plan next steps to improve teacher practice, and to reflect on student learning and growth.Support school leaders and teachers with the implementation of rigorous, data driven summative and formative assessments by partnering in facilitating the administration, scoring, and data analysis of academic assessments.Support the writing of lesson plans for long term substitutes.Lead demo-lessons, book studies, and trainings during PD days and intersession PD.Align school-site PLCs to organizational goals and instructional priorities by backwards mapping curriculum, instruction, and goals from the Common Core State Standards.Engage and collaborate with Special Education team to ensure all teachers are effectively implementing IEP accommodations, modifications, and are planning with all students in mind.Implement and support the teacher observation and feedback schedule as well as regular teacher feedback and support meetings.Support teachers who are in various pathway programs (National Board, Teacher credentialing, induction).Manage the delivery of systems for teachers to use data in their planning and instruction and for that data to be shared with students.In collaboration with other Instructional Leaders and Data & Assessment team members, analyze academic performance data for patterns. Develop next steps and action plans for effective teaching and learning cycles with teachers.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.QUALIFICATIONSCommitment to the mission of Envision Education.Commitment to anti-racist and pro-Black pedagogy.5+ years as a highly successful teacher with a proven track record of breakthrough student achievement results.5+ years of experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and/or under-resourced communities.Valid California Teaching Credential or out of state equivalent with ability to transfer required, Clear California Credential preferred.Experience as a Grade Level or Department Chair (or equivalent) preferred.Demonstrated experience delivering high quality instruction in a full inclusion Special Education setting.Demonstrated experience using data to lead decision making processes.Demonstrated experience training and supporting adult learners in a school based context.Motivated, self-starter who is able to work independently and be a great team member.Strong verbal, written and graphical communication skills.Ability to deliver strong work and lead decision making, even in uncertainty and/or ambiguity.Studies have shown that women and people of the global majority are less likely to apply if they do not meet every one of the qualifications. The salary for this role is $90,000-$105,000 and is dependent upon years of aligned experience and credentials. In addition to the base salary, this position includes a $5,000 City Arts and Leadership Salary Supplement.*This position is funded for two years, 2023-24 and 2024-25.
