The Morning Star Company and its affiliates operate three tomato processing facilities in Central California, processing over 1/3 of the California processing tomato crop, in addition to tomato transplanting, farming, harvesting and trucking operations.

The company employs over 500 year-round and approximately 4,000 seasonal Colleagues.

The Morning Star Company is the largest independent producer of bulk tomato ingredient products (tomato paste and diced tomatoes) in the world.

We also produce canned tomatoes, tomato products and specialty sauces in pouches for customers in the retail and food service markets.

This Colleague’s Mission

is to drive our data strategy, thereby enhancing data driven insights across the organization. Overarching responsibilities include the design, development, and management of enterprise reporting & BI solutions, and maintaining the existing architecture while developing new solutions. This role involves working closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements, architecting solutions, writing reports, and delivering insights that make data accessible, reliable, and actionable.Key Responsibilities:SQL Report Writing:

Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries and reports to meet the analytical and reporting needs of various stakeholders. Ensure that SQL code is efficient, scalable, and well-documented.BI Architecture Design:

Develop and maintain the overall BI architecture, including data warehouses, ETL processes, OLAP cubes, dashboards, and reporting solutions.Data Integration:

Design and oversee ETL processes to integrate data from various sources into the BI environment, ensuring data quality and consistency.API Integration:

Develop and manage API integrations to ensure seamless data flow between systems and the BI platform. Work with development teams to design, implement, and optimize APIs for data extraction and integration.Stakeholder Collaboration:

Work with business leaders, analysts, and IT teams to gather requirements, design BI solutions, and ensure they align with business objectives.Performance Optimization:

Optimize the performance of BI systems, including tuning queries, indexing, and managing the underlying data infrastructure.Governance & Security:

Establish and enforce data governance practices and ensure compliance with data security policies and regulations.Documentation & Training:

Create and maintain detailed documentation of the BI architecture, processes, and systems. Provide training and support to end-users.Innovation & Best Practices:

Stay current with industry trends and best practices in BI, data analytics, and API management, particularly within the Microsoft ecosystem. Continuously seek opportunities to improve the BI architecture and processes.Project Management:

Lead BI projects from inception to completion, including planning, resource allocation, risk management, and delivery.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.Experience:

5+ years of experience in BI, data warehousing, and analyticsTechnical Skills:

Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BIStrong experience with ETL tools (e.g., SSIS, Data Factory) and data modeling.Expertise in SQL and database management (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL).Experience with API development and integration, including RESTful and SOAP APIs.In-depth experience building data pipelines, storage, and processing frameworks.

Analytical Skills:

Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a keen understanding of data analytics, reporting, and business processes.Communication:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Leadership:

Proven leadership experience in guiding teams and managing cross-functional projects.

Compensation:

Depending upon the level of experience, the starting range for this role will be between $90,000 and $150,000.
