Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) was formed in 1993 to serve individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Since then, we have expanded our services to children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee.

Our sole purpose is to support and treat those challenged with serious mental illness and poverty. Although based out of Nashville, we serve several communities across middle and East Tennessee with satellite offices in Antioch, Gallatin, Dickson, Columbia, Cleveland, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Cookeville, Chattanooga, and Memphis.

Job Title:

Registered Nurse (RN), Substance Use Services

Position Summary:

The Medical Operations Registered Nurse (RN) supports licensed physician or advanced practice nurse, as well as overall treatment team, in providing low threshold buprenorphine treatment to consumers.

Schedule : 8am-4:30p, Mon-Fri

Work Location : Emergency Psychiatrist Services, 250 Cumberland Bend, Nashville, TN (Onsite)

Position Responsibilities:

Nursing assessments and prepare consumers for clinic visitsInterpret, process, and implement provider's ordersScreen for substance toxicity, intoxication, and withdrawal symptomsAnalyze and interpret UDS and pregnancy test resultsAdvocate for consumers and participate in on-going evaluation of consumer's progress rooted in harm reduction in clinic and community settingMaintain Perform consumer records for smooth, accurate, and safe implementation of medication orders; including ordering prescribed medications form designated pharmacy for timely dispensingParticipate in the multidisciplinary treatment team meetings as requiredProvides health education and advocacy to consumer and consumers community supportsCompletes clinical documentation in a timely manner that is consistent with agency standardsProficient in electronic health recordConduct assessments with consumers in the community (home, day treatment program, etc.) to provide continuity of care in the physical and/or psychological domainProvide nursing coverage for other clinic locations and departments on a PRN basisParticipate in ongoing internal training to increase confidence in skillset related to emergency medicine and crisisWork collaboratively with community providers to complete community referrals, prior authorizations, and necessary documentation to safely administer medicationComply with the requirements of applicable regulations, laws, rules, procedure, policies, standards and/or grantTake appropriate action to Use de-escalation techniques to prevent or diffuse potentially disruptive situationsObtains releases from PCPs, specialists, other treatment facilities, ER visits, and hospitalizations, as needed, for Consumer careComplete Prior Authorizations and Attestations for treatment medicationsPerform rescue functions during emergencies to include administering basic emergency medical aid and evacuating people to safe locationsDemonstrate proficiency in labs, injections, glucometer, UDS testing and pregnancy testingRemain flexible and positive to changing needsFollow-up with consumers regarding lab results as outlined in company proceduresMake customer service a priority with internal and external customersEstablish rapport with consumersAccess and assist with determining the readiness of the individual for treatment and changeEssential Skills and Experience:

Valid Tennessee Registered Nurse licensePhlebotomy skills and ability to give injectionsCross-train in all areas of Medical OperationsEssential Requirements for the Position:
