We’re seeking a Design Manager - Buildings, to manage a Los Angeles based client. Y ou’ll function as a Team Leader for assigned buildings design projects serving as the primary point of contact with clients for design execution at different delivery methods, developing and maintaining internal and external client networks and serving as a primary contributor during client meetings and presentations. You’ll play an integral role in engaging with your client, team members including but not limited to Program Manager, Construction Manager and Designer of Record. The tasks will include oversight of successfully guiding Designer of Records and consultants through the completion of all design, bidding, permit, construction and closeout milestones. You will adhere to the established budget and schedule, following client specific design guidelines. Additionally, you will perform technical peer reviews of milestone submissions, overseeing both qualitative and quantitative aspects of thedesign. As Design Manager, you will assist with processes related to contraction POs, billing and add services, coordinate with Construction Manager regarding constructability and construction administration phase (PM leads the construction phase with DM as support for AOR oversight). Finally, your role will involve coordinating with AOR, CPS and Public Agencies for code and zoning requirements. You’ll help others by guiding them forward, participating in directing growth and strategic planning as part of the company’s administrative team by providing project level direction of the design process, ensuring a quality project. Bachelor of Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
CCM or Engineering/Architectural Licenses issues by the State of California, Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect license/certification
10+ years of experience within architectural or planning industry in life sciences, justice and public agencies.
5+ years’ experience leading and assisting with business development and growth strategy development
Strong working knowledge in design and construction, building systems/components and technology, contract management, project delivery methods, environmental and LEED applications, team building and client relationship building.
Excellent knowledge of all phases of project development from conceptual design through construction administration.
Experience with public agencies, facility
Attention to detail, with depth of understanding of contract document coordination and technical aspects of project development.
Excellent organization skills, with ability to oversee simultaneous projects in a fast paced environment
Good communication skills necessary to lead consultants, facilitate discussions with client stakeholders, interface with PMO team and keep supervisors and up to date
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
Proven experience with large and small deferred maintenance programs in occupied facilities
Experience with both design-bid-build, design-build and progressive delivery method
Master’s degree in architecture
