Duke Behavioral Health North Durham (Outpatient facility on DRH Campus located at 3643 N. Roxboro Rd, Durham, NC 27704)

Job Summary

Provide medication management to patients seeking psychiatric care in an outpatient setting. Completes diagnostic evaluations and ongoing medication management for patients, orders and schedules appropriate laboratory studies and works within a multi-disciplinary environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for behavioral health patientsPrescribe necessary treatment and services for quality patient careTake patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the date in the patient's recordWrite progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findingsObtain psychosocial history relevant to patient careAssume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patientsOrder and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic proceduresExplain necessity, preparation as well as the nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.

Job Eligibility Requirements

Education

Graduate of accredited MSN or DNP Family Medicine or Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program. (Note: PAs are not being considered for this position.)

Certification

PMHNP or FNP

License

Current and uninhibited RN License issued by the NCBON with authorization to practice as NP

Experience

1+ year's minimum experience as a PMHNP or FNP. 3 years of RN psych experience strongly preferred.

Job Hours

Day shift, 40 hours per week with some flexibility in scheduling
