Pay: $24/hr OR more, depending on experience
7am-3:30pm Mon-Fri - OT possible on Saturdays

Position Summary

Set-up and operate machines to produce, repair or refine products according to detailed specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – includes the following, but others may be assigned

• Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions, sets up and adjusts machines as necessary.

• Operates machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, hobbs, shapers, broaches, drills, and auxiliary machines, to make metallic workpieces.

• Reads blueprints or job orders to determine product specifications.

• Starts machines and turns handwheels or valves to engage feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms.

• Positions, adjusts, and secures stock material or workpieces against stops, on arbors, or in chucks, fixtures or automatic feeding mechanisms, manually or using hoists.

• Makes adjustments to machines to compensate for tool wear and material compositions (speeds and feeds).

• Removes and replaces dull cutting tools.

• Inspects workpieces for defects, and measures workpieces to determine accuracy of machine operation, using a variety of measuring instruments.

• Performs minor machine maintenance, such as oiling or cleaning machines, dies, or workpieces, or adding coolant to machine reservoirs.

• Verify calibration on measuring tools before using.

• Perform First Article Inspection and In Process inspection on parts to verify that they meet engineering specifications.

• Follow Non Conformance work instructions.

• Documents time in MES system accurately.

• Works safely and promote a safe working environment.

• Keep working area clean and organized and maintain housekeeping to a high standard.

• Set up and adjust machines and follow all work instructions.

• Deburrs, stamps, cleans and packages parts according to instructions.

Education and Experience

• One to two years work-related experience and/or training and six months Eskridge machining experience.

• High School diploma or GED.

Competencies

• Ability to set-up and operate at least one machining family.

• Demonstrates understanding and follows all product-related processes and procedures.

• Communicate information clearly to co-workers, lead and supervisor.

• Ability to conduct tests and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

• Knowledge of the use of a variety of basic hand tools (e.g., wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers).

• Basic knowledge of blueprint reading, including general understanding of terms and symbols.

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including uses, repair and maintenance.

• Demonstrate eagerness, enthusiasm, and optimism for work activities. This includes the willingness to take ownership for work activities.

• Identify problems and assist to resolution.

• Interact cooperatively and collaboratively with others as a team.

• Detail and quality oriented.

Computer Skills

• Ability to use the computer and web-based systems to input, access, modify, or output information.
