Senior Engineer (Power, Dynamics, Propulsion)

you will:Provide Senior Engineering expertise and leadership in acquisition of engineering and technical Knowledge Based Services (KBS) in support of NSWCCD Code 80, other NSWCCD Codes, and NSWCCD sponsors to achieve its mission of research, design and development, test and evaluation, and ongoing operational assessment of model-scale and full-scale surface ships, submarines, small craft, and specialized platforms including sea based aviation and off-board systems such as amphibious vehicles, autonomous and unmanned vehicles, off-board vehicles, stationary or submersible rigs, tethered systems, and towed or moored sensor systems.Provide Senior Engineering support to Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division's (NSWCCD) Naval Architecture and Engineering Department (Code 80) in all areas of the PWS including research, engineering and naval architecture on surface ships, submarines, small craft, specialized platforms including sea based aviation platforms and off-board systems such as amphibious vehicles, autonomous and unmanned vehicles, off-board vehicles, stationary or submersible rigs, tethered systems, and towed or moored sensor systems in the areas of hull forms; propulsion; platform dynamics; hydrodynamics; and conceptual and preliminary design.Travel to other work sites including Washington, DC; The Large Cavitation Channel in Millington, TN and Naval and Private Shipyards and Ports.Senior Engineering duties in the following areas:Project ManagementElectronic Document Library (eDL)Meetings and In-Progress Reviews (IPR)Programmatic SupportResearch and Development (R&D) SupportHydrodynamics and Aerodynamics Engineering SupportDesign and DevelopmentSystems Engineering SupportSupport of On-Site Test and Fabrication FacilitiesModeling and Simulation (M&S) SupportDesign Documentation and Technical Data SupportT&E SupportCDRL DeliverablesGOVERNMENT FURNISHED PROPERTY (GFP) AND GFIJob Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION : Bachelor's degree from accredited institution in one of the following Engineering disciplines: Aerospace, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, Marine (also known as "Ocean"), or Naval Architecture (also known as "Naval Engineering").Active Secret Security ClearanceU.S. Citizenship required.Approximately twenty (20) years of verifiable experience in leading the research, development, and test and evaluation of platforms and systems (inclusive of subsystems, components and appurtenances). The 20 years of experience must include at least some experience in all of the following:Participating in powering and dynamics studies;Performing complex calculations to forecast and determine power, transmission, and propulsion characteristics;Leading theoretical and experimental investigations of ship or submarine powering and dynamics, and propulsion and power transmission systems;Developing advanced techniques regarding propeller and propulsor design, development, analysis, and conduct of experiments such as simulation or scale-model testing;Utilizing hydrodynamic test facilities coordination and test protocol required in cavitation tunnels, straight-line tow basin, rotating arm (fixed) basin, and free-running (autonomous model) basin.Founded in 1975, AMERICAN SYSTEMS is one of the largest employee-owned companies in the United States. The salary/hourly range for this position is $110,000 - 125,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
