As a Staff Data Scientist at Walmart, the mammoth scale and volume of our global data is virtually limitless. You will create insights that influence how we make decisions that have impact at an unprecedented scale.
About Us:
The Marketing and Advertising Data Science Team is dedicated to incubating and developing data-driven, ML/AI solutions that help Walmart, suppliers, and sellers connect with customers through marketing and advertising to drive business objectives. For the buyer side (marketing), the focus is on bringing in high quality traffic to the site at lowest cost by optimizing paid campaigns and improving organic ranking on search engines, as well as retaining and expanding our loyal customer base via personalized messaging. For the seller side (advertising), the focus is on expanding advertising opportunities and improving advertisers’ experience via enhanced ads relevance, accurate forecasting, and better lift measurements. We are seeking a talented individual with expertise in generative AI, large language models, and deep learning to elevate our AI initiatives for marketing and advertising.
You’ll make an impact by:
Building advanced machine learning and deep learning models with various applications in marketing, such as creation and improvement of page attributes, page meta title, description, and linkage recommendation.
Processing complicated and large-scale datasets using distributed computing platform, extracting insights from data, and optimizing business metrics.
Developing visuals and reports that succinctly convey model outcomes, benefits, and insights to business stakeholders.
Collaborating with engineering teams to seamlessly transition AI innovations into scalable and reliable operational solutions.
Maintaining world-class academic credentials through patent applications, publications, conference presentations, and external collaboration and service to the research community.
You’ll sweep us off our feet if:
Expertise in working with deep-learning based generative models, LLM, natural language processing or similar research experience with deep-learning/AI.
Expertise in large deep-learning model fine-tuning and deployment.
Solid programming skills in Python and SQL, and familiar with challenges working with large volumes of data.
PhD degree and 2 years of experience or Master’s and 4 years of experience in computer science, statistics, data science, mathematics or other discipline (e.g., electrical engineering, economics) that exposes scientific methods of research and analysis.
Strong academic and publication record is preferred (NeurIPS, ICML, EMNLP, ACL, ICLR, AAAI, IJCAI, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, KDD etc.).
Previous industrial experience in recommendation systems, e-commerce, or relevant areas is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years’ experience in an analytics related field.
Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years’ experience in an analytics related field.
6 years’ experience in an analytics or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Data science, machine learning, optimization models, PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R, Using open source frameworks (for example, scikit learn, tensorflow, torch).
