City/StateNorfolk, VAOverviewWork ShiftThird (Nights) (United States of America)Sentara is currently hiring a Patient Care Technician to work on the Intensive Care Unit at Sentara Leigh Hospital located in Norfolk, VA.Hours/Shift:Part-time, nightshift. 6pm to 6am, including every other weekend. 24 hours per weekDepartment/Position Overview:We are looking for an experienced nursing assistant with compassion and great communication skills to work in this fast-paced environment with our most critical patients. Work alongside our experienced nursing care partners and RNs to perform intense patient care. Excellent customer service skills are needed to work closely with patients and their family members. We encourage all interviewed applicants to shadow our unit to see firsthand how rewarding this position can be.Minimum Requirements:One year of prior health care experience preferred.American Health Associate BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.High School Diploma or Equivalent

and

one of the following:Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, orSuccessful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), orNational Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), orNational Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), orCompletion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, orEmergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, orCurrent student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT, orCurrent work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.As a

The primary duties of this position include supporting the admission/discharge process, changing, bathing, and ambulating patients, drawing blood, foley catheter care, and meeting patient needs while working under the direct supervision of a nurse. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse.
