This position reports to the Navigation and Sensors Group in Blue Origin’s Lunar Permanence business unit.As part of a hardworking team of diverse spacecraft development engineers, you will assist in the procurement, development, analysis, test, and verification, of the navigation radar sensors on a variety of spacecraft and missions. You will participate in the full design life cycle of navigation radar sensor including design, development, analysis, testing, verification/validation, and flight. You will work closely with the guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) team to seamlessly integrate the radar navigation system components with the rest of the GN&C. Your contributions will enable flight of state-of-the-art aerospace vehicles and missions.We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!Responsibilities:Collaborate in the development of navigation and sensor hardware requirements from system level specifications with flow downs to subsystem and component levels, and companion verification methodsAssist in the design of the radar navigation architecture, hardware configuration with design studies, and execute sensor performance tradesContribute to procurement, vendor coordination, delivery, acceptance, installation, verification, validation, qualification, and certification of the component hardwarePerform and guide testing and analyses such as flight test, thermal vacuum test, vibration test, etc. to validate top-level system specifications and requirements, and to establish performance specifications of the sensorsSupport the development and execution of component-level navigation test programs, including sensor characterization, sensor modeling, and integrated on-vehicle testingSupport hardware-in-the-loop testing, on-vehicle functional testing, and flight testingSupport the GN&C subsystem technical lead with a cross-functional mindset to facilitate subsystem and system level architectural decisionsQualifications:B.S. in aerospace engineering or related technical disciplinewith 5+ years of relevant experienceExperience in development of spacecraft navigation systemsor spacecraft avionics systemsExperience withradar electronics, antenna, and front end for deorbit, descent, and landing operationsWorking knowledge of frequency modulated continuous wave and pulsed Doppler radarExperience in sensor procurement, integration, andtestsupportExperience with radio frequency (L, S, X, K band) navigation sensors and testing environmentsDemonstrated experience in verification and test of navigation systemsExperience in MATLAB/SimulinkDesired:M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace engineeringor equivalentwith 10+ years of relevant experienceDemonstrated knowledge and experience with navigation systems that include measurements fromIMU, GPS,radar,star trackers,and optical sensorsExperience in synthetic aperture radar design and implementationExperience with high altitude and weak signal GPSExperience with software defined radioDetailed knowledge on EEE part selection for a variety of sensorsKnowledge in the development of planetary spacecraft navigationWorking knowledge of NASA human spaceflight standards.Compensation Range for:CO applicants is $125,400.00-$175,560.00;WA applicants is $136,800.00-$191,520.00
