Job Summary:The Assurance Experienced Manager is responsible for supervising, directing, and reviewing the results through the delegation of tasks throughout the planning, field work and "wrap-up" stages of an Audit client engagement. In this role, the Assurance Experienced Manager is charged with marketing, networking, and business development within an area of expertise, as well as the responsibility of ensuring engagement profitability involving billings and collections. Responsibilities include advising clients on various economic and regulatory risks, resolving complex accounting issues, applying GAAP and GAAS, writing technical consultation memos, and assessing financial reporting control systems.Job Duties:Control Environment:Applies knowledge and understanding of the collective effect of various factors on establishing or enhancing effectiveness, or mitigating the risks, of specific policies and procedures.Validates and assesses effectiveness of internal control over financial reporting.Identifies and communicates suggestions to improve client internal controls and accounting procedures.Identifies and delegates functions of the audit to the auditor in charge.Supervises the work of the audit team and reviews workpapers and conclusions.Provides on-the-job training to engagement staff during audit field work.GAAP:Applies knowledge of governing principles to client transactions and documents understanding and application of these principles.Identifies and consults with clients on the impact of new accounting pronouncements.Monitors and communicates important professional, industry pronouncements.Drafts complex financial statements and related footnote disclosures.Identifies complex accounting issues and documents resolutions.SEC and PCAOB:Applies knowledge of SEC regulations and PCAOB guidelines.Reviews SEC filings for appropriateness in form, content, completeness, and accuracy.Ensures compliance with engagement independence requirements.GAAS:Applies knowledge of professional standards and documents understanding and application of these standards.Provides guidance to others and affirms conclusions made by others.Communicates matters required to be reported to the Audit Committee/Board.Methodology:Applies knowledge of BDO standards to deliver quality services.Prepares or reviews required communications to management and audit committees.Plans the audit process and oversees execution with quality and efficiency.Research:Defines methodology to conduct research projects and completes them timely.Applies comprehensive knowledge of research tools and draws conclusions.Supervisory Responsibilities:Responsible for supervision of Associates and Senior Associates on all projects.Reviews work prepared by Associates and Senior Associates.Acts as a Career Advisor to Associates and Senior Associates.Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Education:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics; Master's in Accountancy preferred.Experience:Six or more years of relevant audit experience; prior supervisory experience required.License/Certifications:Active licensed US CPA or equivalent required.Software:Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with assurance applications preferred.Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Sound GAAP and GAAS knowledge.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong decision-making and client development skills.Individual salaries are determined after consideration of numerous factors including qualifications and experience.Salary Ranges: California: $130,000 - $160,000; Colorado: $110,000 - $130,000; NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $110,000 - $150,000; Washington: $110,000 - $135,000; Washington DC: $110,000 - $145,000.
