Job Summary:BDO National Tax provides technical leadership and support to BDO client service professionals and alliance firms throughout the world on matters involving US Transfer Pricing. Members of our National Tax team apply their knowledge and experience to work directly with clients and with all levels of BDO and alliance firm tax professionals, with a specific focus on Transfer Pricing. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: promoting BDO's transfer pricing practice through Thought Leadership activities and Market Prominence, ensuring the highest level of technical expertise through Quality Control and Risk Management; and creating and encouraging an environment which promotes (a) the highest standards of the profession, (b) conforming with Firm policies (c) high rates of client retention and expansion, and (d) cross-selling of all services offered by the Firm, where permitted by Firm policy and professional standards, and (e) the professional development needs of the national business line staff nationally at all levels are met.Job Duties:TechnicalReviews Transfer Pricing planning structures and ideas proposed by Transfer Pricing Service Line, Core Tax, Foreign Offices or outside consultants.Oversees required consultation relating to Transfer Pricing operating model as provided in the Tax Quality Manual.Establishes Firm policies relating to technical Transfer Pricing matters.Strengthening Our FirmParticipates in office, regional and national client service efforts.Participates in national, regional, Firm and Alliance meetings and supports related activities.Participates in national Industry initiatives.Ensures the national business line conforms with the Firm's technical standards by examining office review reports from the Director of Quality Control and Technical advisors.Embrace ChangeParticipates in national CLIMB initiative efforts.Creates an environment to encourage the implementation of new Firm initiatives.People FirstParticipates in the interview process for hiring Transfer Pricing Senior Directors/Principals; specifically, provides feedback on technical skills of candidates.Provides feedback on internal candidates for promotion to Transfer Pricing Senior Director/Principal; specifically, provides feedback focusing on technical skills and quality/risk management.Participates in the upfront planning for any Transfer Pricing technical training offered by BDO USA and be one of the leaders of the program.Participates in upfront planning for any Transfer Pricing technical training offered by BDO Global (to extent such training involves U.S. Transfer Pricing matters).Coaches, mentors, and develops the principals and professional staff in the national business line.Performs duties in full compliance with firm policies and procedures, and applicable laws, regulations and professional standards.Institutes an effective two-way communication system by keeping an 'open door' and actively soliciting input, and working with Principals and employees within the business line to ensure that adequate information is provided to all personnel.Personal Leadership & ResponsibilityCreates and encourages an environment in which local, national, and international engagements receive appropriate attention.Participates in selected client service meetings as a resource person to the service teams.Consults with other engagement directors regarding any client service problems they might encounter.Coordinates national and international requests for assistance.Exceptional: Every day, Every wayParticipates in identification of prospective client pursuit teams and in meetings with prospective clients.Acts as the focal point for establishing and maintaining good community relations and a reputation for adhering to the highest professional standards.Encourages the development of new services and specialties.Participates in major proposals.Maintains an active relationship with the top clients of the business line in order to ensure additional services are being introduced where applicable or appropriate.Visits periodically with top management of the most important clients to assess their satisfaction with the services provided by the business line.Involves other Technical Experts when necessary.Risk ManagementDisplays appropriate knowledge of firm regulations and guidelines as stated in the firm's business line quality control manuals.Provides on-the-job training.Puts the interests of the Firm above the interests of a client when resolving issues.Engages BDO Technical, Tax, Consulting, Valuation and other professionals to resolve client issues.Other duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibilities:N/AQualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Education:Bachelor's degree or equivalent, required.Master's degree, LL.M Tax, or JD, required.Experience:Fifteen (15) or more years in Transfer Pricing, required.IRS/Treasury experience, preferred.Software:Able to use various tax applications and research tools, preferred.Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Advanced knowledge and experience with IRS Transfer Pricing procedures.Superior verbal and written communication skills.Solid analytical and decision-making skills.Ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on organization and detail.General Knowledge of ASC 740 including development/execution of market strategy and risk management procedures.Proven verbal and written communications skills and the ability to communicate complex tax concepts to tax professionals and clients.Strong leadership and management skills.Demonstrated ability to hold others and self accountable.Fully developed technical skills.Enthusiasm and support for the Firm and the profession.Capable of effectively developing and maintaining client relationships.Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.Ability to embrace and model the Firm's core values.
