To further develop the ocean cargo in the marketplace through focus on Operations, Finances, Sales, People, Systems, and Culture in adherence to the company’s policy and procedures.Job Description Includes:

Responsible for Ocean Exports, Ocean Imports, LCL program, CFS services & EIO services to OM & PESOcean Services Operations & Customer servicesCarrier Management & RelationshipsCarrier Allocations & optimum utilization of contractsIn charge of the Product P&LPeople Management: Mentoring & Development of the teamMaintaining efficiency & productivity of the teamResponsible for all the parameters of District Excellence & Financial health of the product & districtCompliance & adherence to all our companies policiesThorough with Operational systemsDevelopment of CFS, ICD’s & PortsGlobal & Local RFQ’sManaging & Developing the SP’s: Transporters, CHA’s & all related servicesNetwork Relationship & Cross Geography promotion of the district servicesPeople:Develop department personnel. Show them a career, not just a job.Conducts staff appraisals and make salary reviews.Have a Future ready team with cross functional abilities.Develop solid # 2 to run operations and assist in retention.Operations:Oversee the management of the branch ocean department.Ensure that productivity and profitability goals for ocean department are met.Have a fundamental understanding of Expeditors operational systems, including ETMS, ATS.Be up to date on the New Deployments & attend related calls. Lead the program.Be responsible for the training and development of ocean staff within the branch.Be responsible for compliance and quality issues for the ocean product within the branch, specifically but not limited to:- Compliance with Expeditors OPS Procedures- Compliance with local/regional government and Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) regulations, including ATS- Compliance with Dangerous Goods Regulations (where applicable)- Compliance with LATAM, Middle East/ISC regulations, GDP Guidelines- Compliance & Process for handing Controlled substance & High Value Pharma shipmentsDevelop relationships with the "core" carriers.Develop joint local strategies with the carriers to ensure our account base is satisfied and our value to the carrier increases.Ensure EIO's value statement is clearly communicated to each core carrier.Ensure EIO's requirements on space, service and price are clearly communicated to each carrier.Provide local market feedback on carriers to the Regional Ocean Director.Implementation & Execution of services to systems & tools for better productivity.Increase in productivity through process efficiency. Min 10% YOY.Customer:Lead the branch ocean sales efforts & help close strategic New Logos.At least 50% of time to be spent on sales calls (retention and joint calls with branch sales team).Have a thorough understanding of local market pricing conditions.Have a thorough understanding of and personal involvement with the top 10 ocean customers.Manage all ocean business within the branch after transition from sales.Oversee the branch bid/quotation process for the ocean product.Pre engagement through RFQ Tracker for all Global RFQ.Collaboration with Sales & CRDM for strategy building on Local & Global RFQ.Train, educate, and assist branch sales staff on ocean product, through joint sales calls.Participate in the weekly branch sales meeting, Branch Meeting & MRM.Finance:Assist District Manager with preparation of annual department budget. – Product P&L - DPL.Meet monthly with District Manager to review department financial P&L and productivity results and goals. – One On One Meetings.Review, understand and focus on improving department freight yields. – SAS.Attend Accounts Receivable meetings and proactively work to maintain accounts payment within 30 days. – AR Meetings.Ensure company credit procedures are followed and utilized effectively – OCL/OLA process.Manage accounts payable to vendors (shipping lines, truckers etc.) utilizing BNP & RI Reports.Manage intercompany accounting discrepancies via AJAX report.Review Daily Branch Revenue report (Daily). – Check the work file Report.Ensure any contracts, vendor, customer or other, are reviewed in accordance to company contract policies prior to being signed.Follow company capex procedure for the purchasing of any equipment for your staff or department.Manage by exceptions & random checks for proper accounting of correct cost being booked.Random checks for Correct billing done by our SP’s as per agreed quote.Utilize Top 20 Accounts report to continually evaluate the development of you departmental client base and the revenue distribution amounts and % of top clients, and work towards goal of balanced customer base (no more than 10% revenue by one customer).Compliance:Promote compliance in diligently following all company policies and regulations.Integrity is our culture & our responsibility as managers to exemplify & lead.Proactively communicate with the team to ensure continuous awareness and understanding of policies and regulations.Maintain a positive relationship with the Trade Compliance Manager and support all compliance efforts and trainings.Protecting the organizations interest is our first & foremost duty.
