Master's degree in science, medicine, or veterinary medicine, post-doctoral experience preferred. Experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry preferred. Good understanding of relevant regulatory requirements preferred. Must have practical knowledge of immunohistochemistry and other related disciplines. Entry-level PhD position; MS plus 3 years, BS plus 6 years may be considered equivalent. High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform tissue grossing, processing, sectioning, and staining of various tissues and organsPerform immunohistochemical (IHC) and Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) staining and analysis on a variety of samplesConduct microscopic imaging and image analysisDevelop, optimize, and validate new histological and IHC and FISH techniques as neededEnsure compliance with quality control standards and proceduresMaintain accurate and organized records of all experiments and resultsTrain and supervise junior staff in histological and IHC techniquesCollaborate with other members of the research team to design experiments and interpret dataParticipate in project planning and contribute to experimental designEnsure that protocols are approved and followed and that the laboratory complies with SOPs and GLPsEnsure that experimental data and observations are accurately recorded and verifiedEnsure that unforeseen circumstances are noted when they occur and that corrective action (if needed) is taken and documentedArchive raw data, documentation, protocols, specimens and final reports at the completion of a studyContribute in drafting study protocols, reports, SOPs, manuscripts, and other documents as needed.Cooperate with staff to maintain laboratory in compliance with SOPs, GLPs, and all other applicable regulationsCommunicate effectively with clients concerning prospective new studies as well as studies in progressPerform any other tasks required by the lab, as qualified by training and experienceProvide support to other research areas within Comparative Biosciences, Inc. as needed.Qualifications:Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as Histology, Pathology, or Cell BiologyMinimum of 3 years of experience in histology and IHC and FISH techniques, including tissue processing, sectioning, staining, and analysisStrong understanding of histological techniques, including tissue fixation, embedding, sectioning, and stainingExperience with a variety of IHC techniques and analysis methodsFamiliarity with microscopy techniques and image analysis softwareStrong organizational and record-keeping skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsExperience in supervising and training junior staff is preferredComparative Bioscience Inc is an equal opportunity employer.
