Kapolei, Oahu . This position provides legal research, advice, technical and operational assistance and counsel for Family Court related matters under the supervision of the Senior Family Court Judge of the Family Court, First Circuit. This position also provides legal advice, guidance, and technical and operational staff support to the Senior Family Court Judge.

The incumbent of this position must possess experience with case laws. Experience must include familiarity with family- and/or juvenile-related case law, court processes and procedures, and involve performing legal research and analysis of appellate opinions, motions, and court documents.

Education Requirement:

Graduation from an accredited school of law.

General Experience Requirement:

Three (3) years of work experience which demonstrated the satisfactory performance of duties in one or more of the following areas (or the equivalent): legal research and writing; litigation; review of and drafting of legislation; review of new laws for impact on court requirements; or development of policies and procedures, and legal forms to implement new laws.

Selective Certification Requirement - Case Law:

This position must possess at least one (1) year of professional experience with case laws. Experience must include familiarity with family- and/or juvenile-related case law, court processes and procedures, and involve performing legal research and analysis of appellate opinions, motions, and court documents. This experience may be gained concurrently with the General Experience.

License Requirement:

Applicants must possess an active license to practice law in all courts of the State of Hawaii. Applicants who have an INACTIVE license may apply; however, verification of current and ACTIVE license is required upon selection.

Supervisory Aptitude:

Applicants must possess Supervisory Aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for performing supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities by detail to supervisory positions; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals of a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
