This OpportunityOur Corporate Finance department is looking to hire an Assistant Accounting Manager to join their team! This role reports to the Vice President, Accounting Manager and works alongside various team members as well as internal departments, such as Compliance, Client Service & Marketing, and external service providers. In this role, you will have exposure to Heitman’s global accounting operations and play a key role in the monthly close process and preparation of corporate financial statements. Our team works in a hybrid environment, spending 1-2 days working in Heitman's Chicago office each week.The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with a demonstrated history of fostering strong working relationships with others. They will be a self-starter with strong problem-solving and analytical skills while working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. They will also demonstrate strong organizational skills and adeptness at multitasking.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Assist in the preparation and review of timely, reliable, and accurate month-end consolidated financial statements.Manage the monthly close process including the preparation and review of various balance sheet and income statement accounts, providing review comments to team members, and review of the close entries.Perform accounting research and financial statement analysis to provide management with financial data and recommendations to support business decisions.Manage a direct report, including coaching, training, mentoring, and assigning responsibilities and other key activities.Review and approve various journal entries as prepared by the team.Work with third-party accounting service providers in the US and abroad.Assist in the preparation of various corporate legal entity annual financial statements.Manage the corporate audits of the firm for multiple legal entities globally, both at interim and year-end.Prepare and review various domestic and international regulatory filings.Backup for other team members’ main functions, with the end goal of alleviating the overflow resulting from various time constraints.Responsible for updating various setups within the accounting system, troubleshooting and communicating system issues to appropriate parties.Other ad hoc projects and responsibilities within the team, as needed.Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a corporate environment.Public Accounting and/or experience working in a global company preferred.Bachelor’s degree in accounting.CPA and audit experience preferred.Advanced proficiency in Excel.High level of efficiency, integrity, and accuracy.Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Concur is a plus.Excellent communicator with strong organizational skills.Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze large amounts of data.Research shows that women and people from underrepresented groups often do not apply for jobs if they don’t meet 100% of the listed qualifications.
