The OpportunityThis position works

out of

our Alameda, CA

location in the Diabetes Care division where we are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide

accurate

data to drive better-informed decisions.

We’re

revolutionizing the way people

their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.As the Manager, User Experience Research you will work with our design team to focus on crafting human-centric experiences across a variety of product platforms in Abbott's Diabetes Care division spanning digital, hardware, and service experiences. You will partner closely with Design, Product, and Engineering teams to build customer-specific decision making, unlock deep insights about

customer’s behaviors and attitudes and communicate learning that inspires creativity and action across a set of digital platforms.What

You’ll

Work OnCollaborates with project leads to define and execute learning needs that are aligned to organizational goals both near-term and future state across a variety of product platforms.

Design and lead thoughtful user experience studies, utilizing methods such as ethnographic research, surveys, concept testing, and usability testing.

Facilitate discussion and synthesis sessions to ensure that insights are understood, relevant, and move project members forward towards making user impact.

Understands the marketplace, competitor dynamics and brings the brings the voice of the customer to life in a way that translates to clear design recommendations for cross functional partners.

Review, analyze, and communicate mixed methods data to generate tactical and strategic insights, as well as actionable recommendations which drive product innovation and design improvements for users

Find creative and compelling ways to generate, present, and evangelize results and recommendations throughout the company, in order to help cultivate a highly informed, more effective, and more empathetic organization

Works with cross-functional partners on product direction based on research findings. Follows through to ensure research findings and recommendations are considered appropriately in product strategy and design.

Conduct analyses of real usage data to inform UX optimization efforts.

Required

QualificationsBachelors degree required.

5+ years working experience in user research field in industries such as Technology, Healthcare, Consumer Packaged Goods, Medical Devices or Pharmaceuticals or similar industries.

Preferred

QualificationsWell-versed in user-centered design principles, design thinking practices, and related research methodologies

Demonstrated ability to influence product and design team decisions with research through a variety of innovative and experimental approaches

Whole brained thinker who combines data with deep empathy and strong storytelling

Comfort with ambiguity and ability to navigate dynamic project scopes

Able to communicate across diverse functions, build collaborative relationships, and engage project partners throughout the learning process

Experience working with interdependent cross-functional teams

Someone who approaches challenges with possibilities thinking and a learning mindset
