Work Schedule

The standard work schedule will be Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm during the Academic Year.

7:00am - 6:00pm during the Summer Months

This position offers remote work allowing employees a combination of onsite and work from home options.

The expected remote work schedule for this position is:Three (3) days on campus and two (2) days remote during the Academic Year once initial training is completed and approved by supervisor.

Job Summary

Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking a full-time Information Security Administrator Principal. This position will work within the Information Technology Services (ITS) division and report directly to the CIO/Associate Vice President of ITS. The role acts as the lead technical analyst and campus expert for Information Security, ensuring the safety of information systems assets and protecting systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.

Key Responsibilities:

Security Implementation:

Design and implement security hardware and software.Guidance and Consultation: Provide guidance and direction for the protection of information systems assets to other functional units.

Training and Awareness:

Conduct consultation and training on technical and non-technical security topics for campus stakeholders. Promote awareness of information security best practices to the campus community and educate on security policies and practices.

Monitoring and Assessment:

Monitor campus-wide IT infrastructure and systems. Conduct security monitoring, assessments, audits, and implement and/or recommend remediation.

Policy Development:

Review, recommend, and draft policies, procedures, standards, services, and security products in accordance with SCC and Maricopa Community College District policy and Information Security best practices.

Essential Functions

40% - Conducts routine analysis and Security control monitoring and management of campus computing environment and systems (including network, servers, storage, and end-user devices) to identify existing vulnerabilities and ensure that existing security practices are working as designed; monitors college network traffic activity; monitors and maintains various Infrastructure systems (firewalls, intrusion detection systems, wireless networks, virtual private networks, and account access privileges); work will include the use of a variety of industry-standard security tool to assess vulnerability, applications, password strength, log analysis ...etc; as well as coordination and collaboration with Network and System teams

20% - Works with the District IT Security team and appropriate partners to ensure compliance with Security directives and other internally and externally driven compliance-related IT policies and standards; serves as the campus' primary IT contact for audits, incidents remediation/escalation, and the security and privacy review process, including due diligence and risk assessment activities, and collaboration with outside vendors/partners

15% - Creates and updates documentation on IT processes, policies, and procedures. Participates in project planning, security planning, needs assessment, and future planning for the college

10% - Incident Response: Assists in the response to, and remediation of security incidents; provides collection of information and intelligence related to incidents; secures systems for forensic examination by third parties; may be required to complete forensic examination of systems

15% - Analyzes existing technology practices to identify and mitigate weaknesses that could lead to loss of sensitive data; this includes working with campus faculty and staff in a collaborative manner to identify potential disclosures of sensitive information and collaboratively develop ways to mitigate these weaknesses. Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or directly related field and seven years of technical experience planning and overseeing information technology initiatives such as data security, systems development or network design and related technologies such as intrusion detection systems, vulnerability scanning systems, authentication systems, operating systems and security tools.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree, education, certification and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Current Security certification, including CISSP, CC, CCSP, SSCP, CCNA Security, or other relevant security certifications covering aspects of information systems security

B. Two (2) years of experience managing and securing systems and data in an enterprise IT organization (Network equipment, wireless infrastructure, and/or storage area networks)

C. Two (2) years of experience managing and securing servers, operating systems, virtual environments and applications in an enterprise IT organization

D. Experience researching, designing, implementing, and troubleshooting security systems software and hardware

E. Experience performing security assessments and evaluating internet security threats (vulnerability scanners, network analyzers & scanners etc.

F. Experience creating and maintaining IT Security policies, procedures, and processes

G. Experience with Security Incident Response and Remediation

H. Experience working with vendors and outside partners
