Market Development Associate

for a 6 month temporary position to help a very promising Healthcare startup foster customer relationships and build sales pipeline. This role is well suited for an early career commercial professional with a background in business development or sales.

About This Role

The Market Development Associate will work directly with the founders and commercial leaders of a promising Healthcare startup to help accelerate their commercial traction in the market.

The core objective of this role is to secure meetings with target buyer personas of each startup. The Associate will represent Primary and the portfolio companies to senior executives, conduct introductory discovery calls, and broker introductions to the designated portfolio company when relevant. These meetings yield valuable opportunities for the portfolio company, including market insights, product validation, relationship building, and sales acceleration.

This is a very cross-functional position and one can think of it as working in a startup environment, but leveraging the vantage point and network of a top tier venture capital firm. This role will provide invaluable insight and experience into building SaaS companies from the ground up.

This opportunity is a six month temporary position. At the conclusion of the six month period, there are several options for where this could lead:

Your position could be extended for additional periods to continue your market development work.You could be converted to a full time role at Primary to continue your market development work with the same and new portfolio companies.You could jump directly into a full time position with this portfolio company.

What You'll DoDefine or learn the Ideal Customer Profile ("ICP") for the businessExperiment with prospecting tactics and relationship-building strategies for target customer personasSet up infrastructure and programs to nurture leads and develop scalable pipeline channelsSecure initial meetings with target customer personasExecute initial introductory meetings and discovery sessions to obtain market feedback and inform product roadmap, and learn about executives priorities, challenges, and areas of interestSupport securing of initial "design partnerships" and/or find first test users of the productHelp to land initial customers supporting key sales work streams like pricing and packaging, deck building, ROI/business case development, etc.About You

You've spent 1-4 years in GTM roles at technology or technology-enabled startups (roles like sales development, business development, account executive, etc.)You're located in the greater NYC area and are able to be present in our office (near Madison Square Park) 3-4 days per weekNetwork-builder: you're comfortable developing relationships with industry leaders and executives on your ownExceptional communicator: you're sharing the answers before people ask the questions, and you're quarterbacking lots of moving pieces keeping everyone informed and moving forwardStoryteller: you're able to learn rapidly, develop a strong point of view, and communicate compelling narrativesSpeed: you're at your best working at the warp speed of early stage startupsPassion: you are genuinely passionate, curious, and articulate about startup/tech trends

Compensation is market-competitive with a monthly gross base salary of $6,667 (equivalent to an annualized salary of $80,000). This position does not include healthcare coverage.
