Shure offers a challenging, fun and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate and graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who are asked to relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Process Engineering Machine Controls Intern
assists with research, development, and implementation of new or improved manufacturing process control systems. Assists with programming and integration of automated equipment using Labview, PLC programming, or other machine control languages/systems. Learns how Shure Process Engineering provides support in this regard to manufacturing engineering for all plants, as well as various project teams, including Commodity Management Teams, New Product Teams, and Advanced Development Teams.
This Internship is Hybrid.Responsibilities:Learns about Shures industrial control and data collections systems philosophy and begins applying to projects worked on.With the assistance of more senior engineers, learns how to create project plans for applications requiring machine control, including participation in creation of schedules, design of experiments, budgetary considerations, and machine control implementation.Assists with the development and implementation of industry-standard machine controls for future manufacturing systems.Assists with equipment and process modifications, incorporating to improve Shures monitoring and data collecting capabilities for existing product lines.Assists with defining processing equipment data collection and machine control requirements and specifications for a given applicationWorks with more senior engineers on experiments in order to compile and evaluate test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for manufacturing process or material specifications.Qualifications:
Working towards a Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing EngineeringBasic knowledge of project documentation, including but not limited to schedules, drawings, lab notebooks, process reports, and project files and learns to use professional conceptsWorking knowledge of basic software used in engineering: Labview, PLC ladder logic, MiniTab, MS Office Suite including ProjectAble to apply company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.Able to follow standard instructions, practices and procedures in analyzing situations or dataBegins working on projects, with scope limited to specific tasksWorks under close supervision of more senior engineersHas basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts, Quality, Statistics, and electro/mechanical designHas basic knowledge of MRP systemsApplicants for this position must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
