The
Senior Philanthropy Officer
is responsible for generating support for the mission of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England and leading fundraising efforts by building strong relationships with current and future donors, strategic planning, and leveraging expertise in major gifts and gift planning. This position is a critical role in securing the organization's capital and general operating needs while serving as the primary moves manager for a portfolio of about 75 to 100 current and prospective major donors.
The ideal candidate should be a seasoned fundraiser with proven experience soliciting & closing 5-7 figure gifts in addition to being creative, results-oriented, and skilled in cultivating long-term donor partnerships. The Senior Philanthropy Officer will work collaboratively across all parts of the organization and develop relationships with board members and staff volunteer leadership activities and groups that aim to stimulate or increase major gift fundraising. Other duties include supervision of any state-based Philanthropy Officers and any Philanthropy Associates and serving as the state-based strategy leader of their state, in partnership with the Senior Philanthropy Director, who leads major gifts operations.
CHARACTERISTIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Secure major philanthropic investments in support of the mission and objectives of PPNNE. The Senior Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for securing 5, 6 and 7 figure gifts from individuals, managing relationships with current and prospective donors, identifying, cultivating, and soliciting new donors and major gift prospects.Manage relationships with a portfolio of current and prospective major donors and will be expected to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward in partnership with the executive office, leadership volunteers, senior management and other staff as appropriate.Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle:Initiate contacts with potential leadership and major gifts donorsDevelop appropriate cultivation strategies for them, including working with volunteersMove potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion towards solicitation and closureMake solicitations when appropriateMaintain stewardship contacts with donors; adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of the donorsManage and staff major donor eventsOffer prospect strategy counsel to the President/CEO and development staff who are managing other prospects. Be a resource for development staff, from identifying potential volunteer connections to knowing about meeting and event spaces in key locationsRecord, or facilitate recording, donor interactions, relationships and other relevant information in the donor database in accordance with database policies and proceduresSupervises work of any Philanthropy Officers or Philanthropy Associates in their state.Be a full participant in crafting strategies to secure philanthropic gifts to the organizationWork with the Annual Fund staff to identify major donor prospects from the Annual Fund supporter poolApproach donor strategy with the longevity of the organization as well as the donor's immediate intent in mind, integrating planned and long-term stewardship plans as part of the solicitation processMaintain donor confidentiality and abide by the Association of Fundraising Professionals code of ethics in all fundraising activities. Conform to standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient and donor rights, so that the best possible service may be providedWork collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, other development and public affairs staff, and other PPNNE representatives to cultivate and solicit donors for organization-wide prioritiesMonitor all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relationsPPNNE Philanthropy Officers also work as fundraisers on behalf of Planned Parenthood State Action Fund and PAC in their state and will work to secure resources and support for those organizationsPerform other duties as assignedUtilize PPNNE's Values as the basis for decision-making and to facilitate PPNNE's missionQUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree with 6 to 8 years of successful experience in major or planned gift fundraising preferably in healthcareMust be highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts in the six-figure rangeDemonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areasSuccessful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategiesMust have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignmentsMust be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising software programs (The Raiser's Edge preferred)Must be willing to travel and work occasional evenings and weekendsCOMPENSATION:
The range of pay for this position is $74,500/ yr to $110,000/ yr based on years of experience. Access to benefits are available including health, dental, vision insurance, paid time off and retirement fund.
