POSITION SUMMARY:The primary mission of the recruitment onboarding specialist will be to assist prospective traditional and nontraditional students in learning about the college, the programs and services available for students, and to help them make the decision to enroll. Provides general information to incoming students regarding college policies and procedures as they relate to admissions, registration, student accounts and payments, advising, financial aid, testing and tutoring, and other student development and academic affairs areas This position will serve as the applicant main point of contact for the college to provide pre-advising onboarding guidance to new students. The position will have the responsibility for recruiting high school and returning adult students in addition to assisting with implementation of the college's strategic enrollment management plan. Maintains an open and approachable manner and confidentiality. May require flexible hours and occasional evenings and weekends. Local travel may be required.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Establish and build strategic relationships with, and make recruiting visits to high schools and local businesses & organizations, in and out of district with the goal of recruiting both traditional and nontraditional students to JJC.2. Conduct outreach to applicants to assist them with admissions and onboarding procedures.3. Establish check-in and outreach points with new students to increase awareness of onboarding services.4. Collaborate with academic and student development departments to identify individual student's enrollment barriers and make referrals as needed.5. Assist front line staff in answering questions from students and parents who are visiting the enrollment center; includes being available for walk-in student appointments and providing assistance to front line staff in peak times.6. Utilize computerized systems to communicate with students, process admissions, prepare reports, and/or analyze data.7. Assist director and recruitment coordinator to create a yearly recruitment plan; implement and execute the strategies within the recruitment plan; suggest improvements and recommendations to the plan. Establish and measure key data points to assess the effectiveness of the plan.8. Major responsibilities for the organization, design, and execution of numerous on and off campus events such as Discover JJC, JJC College Fair, Campus Tours, Admissions Information Sessions, specialized outreach events, etc.9. Coordinate communication plans to new student applicants. Maintain communication via telephone, correspondence, and/or electronic mail with applicants through the enrollment process.10. Compile and send information from a number of JJC departments for monthly newsletter (The Inside Scoop) to high school counselors and dual credit facilitators.11. Manage the inventory of recruitment needs and materials.12. Serve on college committees, attend department meetings, and participate in professional development as assigned.13. Perform related duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS1. Bachelor's Degree from a fully accredited college or university.2. Two (2) years of college admissions experience or related experience in higher education.3. English, Spanish and/or other languages verbal and written communication proficiency.4. Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills.5. Strong personal computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.6. Ability to independently manage the work day in the field with minimal or no supervision.7. Extended evening and weekend hours are required during prime recruiting season.8. Uphold and follow college policy and federal law that protects the privacy of student's education records under FERPA Law.9. Valid driver's license.10. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.11.
