Business Development Manager

Position Summary:

The Business Development Manager drives incremental revenue and growth for all Ames Tools Corporation products by establishing new distribution partners and end user customers for the Company's products and services within the assigned territory. The Business Development Manager works hand in hand with the Inside Sales Representative assigned to the identical territory to create an ongoing revenue stream through relentless new customer identification and account establishment by the Business Development Manager and corresponding, complementary account maintenance and cultivation by the Inside Sales Representative.

The Business Development Manager works within an assigned geography and has no assigned accounts. The Business Development Manager is a true Hunter - responsible for identifying and opening new accounts, not for the ongoing maintenance of the accounts except for specific situations. The Business Development Manager plans and conducts sales calls, gaining new distribution partners and end user customers for the Company.

The Business Development Manager and Inside Sales Representative must have a cooperative, symbiotic relationship, expertly weaving their respective skills and efforts to maximize revenue for the Company. The working relationship is built on the trust that their sales counterparts will perform their respective responsibilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Identify and contact potential new customers within the assigned territory using outbound telephone calls, e-mail, chat and videoconference to sell all Ames Tools Corporation products.Establish new distribution partners including Drywall Yards, Building Material Dealers, STAFDA dealers and independent tool dealers.Develop and cultivate relationships and offer solutions to key, identified end user customers to drive sell through at Ames stores and all other distribution partners, including e-commerce.Maintain CRM customer database and all related activities with the CRM customer databaseMeet or exceed sales targets and goalsDrive incremental revenue for Ames Tool Corporation through frequent and consistent communication and presentation of solutions for distribution partners and end users. Must have a thorough understanding of the sales process and demonstrate a strong ability to create and close sales opportunities.Ability to understand how to profitably grow a business; the relationship between driving revenue and building a profitable business. Includes ability to create financial presentations, read financial reports and interpret the most impactful opportunities.Quickly create and build relationships with customers. Maintain the appropriate contact frequency with customers to support the identified opportunities. Build internal alliances across Sales, Stores, Marketing, Customer Service and Operations.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Display listening and analytical skills necessary to identify issues and opportunities while communicating in a manner that displays a clear path for success or resolution.Quickly create and build relationships with customers. Maintain the appropriate contact frequency with customers to support the identified opportunities. Build internal alliances across Sales, Stores, Marketing, Customer Service and Operations.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred or 3 - 5 years' experience as Inside or Outside Sales Representative responsible for Business-to-Business sales; preferably in construction or a construction related fieldStrong communication and presentation skills requiredKnowledge of the features and business applications of services, products and customer-facing technology offerings and solutionsExperience assessing, identifying, measuring and monitoring customer or business needs to make decisions and take appropriate actionsDemonstrated success building business partnerships and developing key customer relationships to maximize account profitabilityProficiency in the use of desktop applications and Windows-based programs (Excel and PowerPoint)Bilingual English and Spanish a plusAbility to read and interpret documents such as departmental report and procedure manuals.
