Summary:The role of the Attendant/Aide is to comply with the standards of performance for the environmental upkeep of Covenant HealthCare. This includes cleaning of all patient, non-patient, support and other areas of the facility; while working in compliance with mandated regulations and standards regarding infection prevention and control, sanitation, and overall cleanliness. The Attendant/Aide assists in the upkeep and maintenance of the facility by reporting items needing fixing or repair to the appropriate person(s).

The Attendant/Aide demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.

Responsibilities:Total environmental cleaning of assigned areas:Discharged patientsIn-room patientsRoom change patientsNon-patient areasSupport areas

Strips bed linens and remakes bedReplaces supplies, change curtains & drapes; move and transport specified equipment & furnishingsHandle clean and soiled linen according to standards.Handle clean and soiled linen according to standards.Utilize and comply with standards relating to Universal Precautions as appropriateEmpty and maintain waste & recycling containers using appropriate liners.Dispose of trash and properly store infectious waste and recycling according to standard & policyAssess overall condition of area and equipment, taking proper action complying with standards for items needing fixing, repair or maintenance.Maintain the cleaning and storing of equipment in functional orderProperly store and label all cleaning solutions and chemicalsMaintain, stock and utilize supplies in storage rooms and closets appropriatelyMaintain linen closets ensuring cleanliness and organizationPerforms other duties as assigned

Other information:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:High School graduate or G.E.D equivalentPrefer previous environmental experience in a healthcare setting

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Prefer knowledge of cleaning and general environmental care procedures

Prefer knowledge of waste management and universal precautions

Operation of basic electronic/technological devices

Operation of equipment and tools to effectively and efficiently clean

Possess excellent interpersonal skills-for interacting with fellow co-workers, Covenant HealthCare patients and visitors, complying with Covenant HealthCare philosophies

Able to work independently (individually) and as part of a team

Able to work with frequent interruptions

Able to problem solve and exercise sound, sufficient judgement and flexibility to meet changing priorities

Able to take direction and supervision from a varying amount of people

Able to deal with stressful situations

Able to demonstrate actions in compliance with Covenant HealthCare philosophies

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Frequent lifting up to 10 lbs.

Frequent standing, walking, lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling, balancing, and twisting/reaching

Frequent handling, feeling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling,

Frequent visual accommodation: near, far and color vision, depth perception

Occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.

Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and crawling
