May operate hand and power tools of all types.Minimum QualificationsMinimum 2 years hands on experience in at least 3 of the following systems:Copper and/or zinc standing seamSlate, tile, synthetic slate, asphalt shinglesSoldering copper and stainless steelEducation: High School/ G.E.DExperience working on large scale commercial steep slope projects- start to finishAbility to travel 60-75% of the timeMust speak English, Spanish is a plusDriver's license (preferred not required)Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of safety techniques and procedures to set up a safety plan including toolbox talks, safety huddlesCalculate and control labor projections, material storage, and material needsAbility to read shop drawings, reproduce manufacturing details, and layout roofs and wallsKnowledge of how to cut, shape, fit, join, and install edge metal, insulation, ice & water shields, wood, or other construction materialsRun material inventoryKnowledge of how to install pipe boots, ridge/hip caps, rake, nail base, valley, eave lock, and ice & water shieldKnowledge of how to install counter flashing, coping, fascia, gutters, miters, downspouts, roof curbs, flat lock, and thru-wall flashingKnowledge of how to install crickets, chimney flashing, curbs, and how to make seaming and horizontal and vertical solderingAbility to fulfill: timesheets, shop requisitions, and job reportsInterpersonal and leadership skills with ability to work on a team and take corrective action when necessaryAbility to train and supervise the crew and subcontractors as needed in order to meet the quality and production goalsMeet with GC and customersEssential FunctionsMaintain job site cleanliness and daily housekeepingCommunicate with manager, everyday regarding job progress, field problems, technical questions, etc.Must know how to take trim/panel measurements and clips spacing plansCover exposed nail heads with roofing cement or caulking to prevent water leakage and rustCovering roofs and exterior walls of structures with metal, slate, single-ply systems, asphalt, aluminum, wood, gravel, gypsum, and/or related materials, using brushes, knives, punches, hammers, and other toolsOperating vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipmentRepair cracks, defects, and/or damages using proper materialsApply adhesives, caulking, sealants, or coatingsAdhere to company safety policies and proceduresPhysical DemandsRequires standing up for long periods of timeRequires use of ladders, scaffolds, and stairwaysRequires ability to climb, lift, balance, walk, and handle materialsRequires use of abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguingRequires seeing details at close rangeRequires repetitive movement, bending or twisting, kneeling, crouching, stooping or crawlingRequires ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry items weighing 50 pounds regularlyWork EnvironmentRequires working in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions, in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32 F degrees) temperatures, including exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortableIncludes exposure to contaminants, hazardous material, or equipmentMistakes are not easily correctable and have serious consequences, therefore safety procedures need to be followedRequires exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stingsRequires exposure to high places or dangerous conditionsDisclaimer:The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
