SUMMARY

Flatwater Inc. is looking to fill this position with the most qualified applicant, Flatwater is a subsidiary of Ho-Chunk Inc. the economic development company of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. The GIS Web Application Developer leverages expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to develop, evaluate, and modify GIS products and technology. The role involves using ESRI's ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, and JavaScript for web application development, integrating spatial and non-spatial datasets, managing SQL Server databases, and creating visual communication tools to support Tribal energy and mineral development projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Identify system objectives, functions, and requirements by collaborating with stakeholders.Write, debug, and maintain high-quality code using languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.Prepare detailed technical specifications outlining system design and functionality.Test software code changes using frameworks like JUnit or Selenium.Analyze and refine system requirements based on feedback and changes in business processes using tools like JIRA or Confluence.Translate system requirements into application prototypes using tools like Adobe XD or Figma.Plan and design scalable, secure system architectures using patterns such as microservices.Develop application architectures that integrate with existing systems and align with best practices and organizational standards.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Proficiency in ESRI's ArcPro and ArcGIS Online.Fluency in JavaScript for ESRI Web Application Development.Experience with SQL Server for database management.Knowledge of geodesy principles and techniques.Strong skills in visual communication using maps, diagrams, graphs, and charts.Familiarity with GIS tools such as ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Portal, and ESRI City Engine.Ability to create and manage .shp files and organize map layers.Competence in developing geo-referenced digital databases.Skill in integrating spatial and non-spatial data for geospatial analysis.Experience in interpreting data from various formats to create maps.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

A bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Geomatics, or a related field is required, with 5-7 years of technical expertise in GIS application development; a master's degree in these fields is preferred.Relevant certifications in cloud development and software engineering are highly desirable.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
