Summary

Sorts out any diseased birds or birds that have a defect by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Be able to identify animal diseases and defects as regulated by the Poultry Product Inspection Act.

Makes determination whether to throw the bird away or send it to be salvaged.

Throws away any cadavers or badly bruised birds.

Marks parts to be trimmed in Evisceration.

Trims off bad sections of the birds.

Puts information into the computer regarding the number of birds that are thrown away and the number salvaged.

Performs various production labor duties as assigned by Supervisor.

This is a safety sensitive position.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must be able to pass the company's color deficiency test.
