GE Healthcare Software Engineering co-ops work on a variety of assignments with responsibilities and hands-on involvement in areas of product and test tool software development. There will be project-oriented assignments where a manager and mentor are assigned for support. These positions will work primarily with Anesthesia and Respiratory Care (ARC) products.

Position Description:

Software Engineering co-ops will help develop and maintain real-time and non-real-time software in C++ in support of our Life Support devices (Anesthesia Systems, Vaporizers) and SW test tools. Software Engineering Co-ops act as key team members collaborating with senior engineers to gain experience in the software design lifecycle that is at the center of SW engineering – design, code, test, document. Software Engineering co-ops will gain experience developing embedded software running on actual hardware systems and test tools to support the development and testing of these systems.

Basic Qualifications:

3.0 cumulative overall GPA or better (in a 4.0 scale)

High self-confidence

Demonstrated computer sciences/engineering skills (e.g. C++, Python, C#)

Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms.

Demonstrated analytical ability and technical competency in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering areas.

Proven Leadership skills and experience.

Strong Initiative and ability to work independently and in teams.

Able to work for a minimum of 16 weeks

Must be willing to relocate

Must be a full time student pursuing a degree in Electrical, Computer or Computer Science Engineering

Desired Characteristics:

Prior intern, co-op, or research experience in computer sciences/engineering or research experience in the design field

Experience with embedded systems and developing / debugging for real HW targets.

Strong commitment to a career in technology and a passion for engineering.

Demonstrated analytic approach to problem solving.

Proven adaptable to difficult situations.

Demonstrated leadership skills and community involvement.
